Thank you for explaining it to me. But like, is that really a GOOD thing that games have evolved to have characters have all these deep, over the top backstories? We used to have these amazing levels, stories, badass one-liners. Now we have to put up with predictable storylines, whining, crying, and monologuing. It just frustrates me to see a company that trash talked Core Design taking INSPIRATION off of Core Design and getting praise for me. But I am happy that you enjoy the games and you enjoy seeing the struggle to become the Tomb Raider. I have tried to play the games and genuinely tried to give it a chance, but I just think of things like Tomb Raider 1 and how Crystal Dynamics gave us Anniversary and it just disappoints me. I get giving her a background and a past, but Crystal Dynamics really aims for pitiful and whiny and pathetic and it just kind of makes me feel like it's a disservice to Lara Croft.

Genuine question. Why do we need her to have humanity? She's not real, and her games were a form of escape. I enjoyed how she was a fully confident adult woman who handled things calmly with snark and grace. She was a loner. She was beautiful. We didn't have to sit through hours of crying or whining or daddy/mommy issues. She had a striking face and style. I genuinely cannot understand why nobody is upset about this? Crystal Dynamics games are fine, it's the fact that they shit on Core Design while tearing down Tomb Raider and shoddily putting something new together that gets me. I cannot understand why people like this? We get preached at, monologued at, the stories are boring. We don't have the same absurd uniqueness that came with Core. Like, I genuinely don't get it.

If actually giving Lara a background, an origin story, a purpose & a big villain instead of just "being a baddie" for the sake of it, its settling for less, well then yeah. I love Classic & LAU Lara but they lack a bit humanity, which Survivor Lara has.

I'm not denying that it is out of my hands. I'm no hero. I can't save the world from Crystal Dynamics holding the IP to Tomb Raider. But I can comment on how tragic it is, and I can look down on Crystal Dynamics apologists. I just do not get you guys and why you all want to settle for less than we could have had.

Yes. Nothing teaches a bully faster than retaliation. But it also teaches your child to have a stiff upper lip, and to be brave enough to stand up for themselves in life. Not everybody is going to care about them, they need to learn that early on. If they crumple and cry under fear or pressure, they are more likely to be used or seen as weak by others. Or worse, a people pleaser.

@_sorrengailll Not usually, no. I only block them under very specific circumstances. I post things that are crazy, rude, and provocative sometimes, but I won't tolerate racism, pedophilia, or nazi behavior. There is a line, but you have to be dramatically bad for me to block you.
