I don’t have any professional expertise in werewolves, zombies and vampires, but I do in my viral explanation (with werewolves as either the intermediate or paratenic hosts, and zombies and vampires as the final hosts: the outcome dependant partly on their own characteristics and partly on how the virus was transmitted). Plus, the transmission from one partner to the other via consensual lovebite but non-disclosure is a deliberate echo of issues of consent (I don’t have personal experience of that but I have enough friends who do, and we talk).
