I'm about to talk about some animals that do not need to drink water throughout their lives. 🧵 Gerenuk: These guys are a unique species of antelopes that are found in East Africa. You can see that it has long necks right? That's where its name is derived from. Gerenuk is from the word garanuug, which means “giraffe-necked” in Somali. They get all the moisture that they need from the plants that they consume. They do not need to consume water, but if they happen to see free water, they'd drink. Because they can stand on their two hind legs to find food, they can reach young leaf shoots which is better than the old dry ones.
