While this is true, I still have NEVER seen reception to an ending as brutal as AoT’s. Manga readers who came into the game post-2021 don’t know what true lashings look like. It felt like EVERY page got dunked on or became a meme. With other endings there’s like one or two plot beats that people linger on. 139 just kept getting beaten down, even with the patches 💀 MAPPA and anime-onlys did insane rehabilitation

Overall, this book was truly awful, and an indication of the quality of fantasy I usually read and, clearly, have taken for granted thus far (never again. The fact I give most books I read 4 stars isn't bc I just give good ratings to everything. I usually, just pick good books)

With the pacing of the story there's no time to linger with the characters, to really learn them and turn them into something truly interesting, the characters will go through events but never do any introspection, the pacing ruins any opportunity for them to gain real depth.

Finished The Cavalier (Heroes of the Empire #1) - ⭐⭐ This was one of the worst books I've ever completed and it progressively got worse until it reached an ending so terrible and cliché I just burst out laughing.
