@Fugiman awesome, my group always dreams how great an auto table would be but we've never committed to getting one. mostly b/c we'd have no place to put it when not using it haha.

@hifiRush is the team aware how the game is incorrectly configured to sync video settings using steam cloud, which causes swapping between PC and steam deck to be bothersome?

@Xenogenic i was reminded of how visual scripting was viewed as "not true programming" but over time accepted as a higher-order abstraction with its own merits. with generative art i see a similar abstraction, just orders of magnitude ahead of the current practice

@afex A better analogue would be if I could type a sentence to UE5 and have it script something resembling what I want. That would be awesome for productivity. It would also be trivial relative to the complexity of blueprint scripting, I.e. it’s not hard work.

I've seen some people around the 'net, even my own Facebook feed, posting AI generated art and seeking praise for it, then defending it: "well I spent a lot of time to get these results" We all agree AI making art for us is not us being creative or making art, right? ...right?

@Xenogenic yeah i agree they don't deserve a prize, but that's b/c our society values both ideas and execution. in a future world where execution is commoditized, like we're seeing happen here, what creative credit will be given when humans only need to produce ideas?

@afex My original post was not about whether what it outputs is art or not, but rather whether an individual’s contribution is impressive or worthy of creative credit. Given how trivial their involvement is, I still say no.

@Xenogenic If you picked the palette, would it be art then? What if you provided a basic shape sketch, then? What if you drew it, but didn’t use any physical paints only digital pixels, then? It’s clear that, with time, people who once decried the abstraction get used to them and accept.

@Xenogenic I can’t help but draw parallels to other times higher order abstractions have prompted calls of the output “not being real work”. Ex: are blueprints programming? Main difference here is that it’s a large leap rather than smaller iteration from existing norm.

Just a reminder that when my mom was dying of cancer, Donald Trump slapped my father on his back and said, “Bobby, I hear it’s time to find you a new younger one…”. Back in 1997. Never forget.

@BGStatsApp This is very concerning. Your site says “If you use Cloud sync, we save your data on our servers, accessible only to you. We can access this data on your request.” But clearly you are accessing our data for your use without consent here.

@Big_Ducks Yeah I’ve thought about extending PoBs tree power feature into a full brute force build maximizer including items. Someone will certainly build that one day, which will lead to neat undiscovered builds. What will content creators compete with instead of build strength?

One day we're going to have a program for Path of Exile that let's us set some various parameters and press a button to optimize a PoB for whatever ability we like. Idk how I feel about that thought.

A number of people have asked me why I get so bothered by crypto/blockchain/NFTS/Web3 when no one is making me participate against my will. It has come up enough times that I thought it merited a response. A thread.

denouncing NFTs is good and honorable here are some tips to help you on your scam-prevention journey: - 'power usage/environment' is a trap, people will goalpost move you on about proof of stake. - try to focus on what they do, which is nothing, but badly, while scamming

@Schamtoo It’s not squatting. Unless the buyer moves in themselves they can’t make you leave. If they buy just to rent it out you have protections. Also usually you can get payout to move if it comes to it.
