People compare salaries as if income translates linearly into well-being. This assumption is analytically flawed. The relationship between income and quality of life is better understood through the lens of diminishing marginal utility of income, a core idea in Economics.

@soma_as_moon7 @athreya49 Thats the worst part. That was not delusion or propaganda to fool gullible voters. Many of our elites actually and sincierly believed all that.

The day just went from unbearably hot to incredibly cold in a matter of mere hours. Climate change era is going to give a lot of surprises.

The income–well-being relationship is highly convex at low income levels and concave thereafter, with the steepest gradient concentrated in the lower and lower-middle income ranges where basic constraints are relaxed and economic security is first established.

Higher income still enhances life through better living conditions, access, and optionality, the marginal impact on fundamental well-being is comparatively limited.

Expenditure is almost entirely allocated to basic caloric intake, with minimal dietary diversity, negligible healthcare access, and no capacity for precautionary savings. Households operate under extreme vulnerability, where even minor shocks can induce severe welfare losses.

In this framework, the welfare gains from additional income are steep at low levels and progressively flatten as income rises. At very low income levels, around ₹5,000 per month, typical of unskilled labor, consumption is constrained to subsistence.

@soma_as_moon7 Accountability can only come when people at the receiving end of the decision have some way of giving feedback or influencing decisions. When everything from street light to household water comes from central scheme, people don't really have a way to voice their disaffection.
