@st_louis_stan it can actually all be reduced to older men viewing young men as their competition--for mates yes, but also status, promotions, etc and most boomers are not actually sleeping with them, because the women know exactly what is happening and are managing it

Saying that high-status men dote on junior women in the workplace because they want to fuck them is simplistic and mostly wrong. There are a few reasons for the phenomenon of women being preferred in modern white-collar environments by older men and they are - Natural protectiveness towards women. The types of men in these roles are atypical men, meaning they're smart, pro-social, college-educated, etc. These kinds of men are more inclined to look out for women, even if that means doing work for them, making their upward path a little easier, helping them skip a few rungs in the ladder. Think paternal more than sexual - Many of these guys buy into the story that women have been unduly oppressed, and their pro-social inclinations will urge them to redress this by giving women special treatment. A lot of these men have a (perhaps misplaced) sense of justice and fairness and many of them really believe they're doing the right thing by preferring women at the expense of men - In the eyes of these men, young men need to "earn their place" in society, so helping them out, guiding them, presenting them with opportunities is oftentimes considered coddling them, interfering with the natural process of men having to cut their teeth and prove themselves. In their eyes, any man who is worth a damn will "figure it out" regardless of what help he may or may not get - Young women are extremely agreeable. Imagine you're a 55-yo man. A pretty 25-yo woman gets hired at your office, she's eager to please has a go-getter attitude. Add in the "women are wonderful" effect. Now look at the 25-yo man they hired at the same time, he's just Some Guy, maybe a little ugly a little disagreeable, and presents male energy that you'll have to deal with (though he may be the more competent of the two!). The woman is the path of least resistance, even if choosing her means abdicating your traditional social responsibility of guiding and shaping the next generation of young men Take all of this, and scale it, and you can begin to understand why we're having the problems we're having

Bro nothing of use is happening in person at any job short of wall street. No one has any information to share with you AI can't tell you and boomers have ruined everything. None of that is worth driving in traffic and not having free time to yourself
Nat Purser@NatPurser

talking to young people who wish their jobs were fully remote makes me feel like i’m losing my mind. you’re at the point in life where you could most benefit from in-person relationship and knowledge building … but … you wanna get some errands done,

Everyone has been 'vibe coding' for like 2 years with this 'insane' tool and there are still 0 (zero) notable game changing products that compare to what dedicated humans created in their basements prior to AI. Anyone w/ expertise in any subject immediately realises how overrated it is for giving you anything beyond the most basic information in it. If you can legitimately write, any writing produced by an LLM is a disgusting insult to all of your senses. Good for the boring and tediously repetitive tasks + organising information, but still so unreliable and far away from what Silicon Valley keep trying to shill us.

Never ceases to amaze me how much people believe that “what caused fertility decline” and “how do we fix fertility decline” are similar questions. The questions may not have any relationship to each other at all!!

Marco Polo describes an ancient tactic for creating assassins that I'd bet 9/10 people would agree falls under the category of MKULTRA. Shakespeare uses this same method to frame-narrate Taming of the Shrew and experts with the wrong idea about what Shakespeare is are v confused
milton@miltonappl3

A little known fact is that Marco Polo attests in his travel journals that sultans would make unreasonably opulent gardens, drug and kidnap provincials, and then awaken them in the gardens. There are no less than 4 ancient stories about information inequality and garden walls.

the CATO Institute.. a libertarian think tank funded by the Koch brothers.. just published a study showing immigrants paid more in taxes than they received in benefits every single year from 1994 to 2023.. not a left-wing university.. not a Democratic PAC.. the Koch brothers' own research institute.. they reduced the deficit by $14.5 trillion over 30 years.. they earn less per hour but work at higher rates.. which means higher per capita income.. which means higher taxes paid.. the country spent 30 years being told immigrants were draining the system.. turns out they were funding it.. and the people who told you that knew the numbers the whole time
Leading Report@LeadingReport

Immigrants generate more income and taxes than the average person, per CATO Institute.
