@SKINWALKER34813 @discordspies @DanteNotAlmeida No idea about David, but I live in SE London and regularly use trains/buses. They're great! I see maybe 1-2 people begging on the train per year and maybe once a year someone smells bad. In 20+ years, I've felt mildly unsafe about two or three times.

It's so weird to hear Americans talk like this because I've been reliant on public transport my entire life and it's just Not Like That in the UK Is it really that consistently bad or is this a thing where everyone has like one story that colours their whole experience

i am not british so this i am 100% speaking out of what i remember reading in the news, if anything is wrong feel free to correct me and call me out but going point by point didn't his government: - explicitly rule out rejoining the EU single market or customs union - have something like 40k small boat crossings hitting a record number DESPITE using weird fucked up surveillance tech to avoid it - simply continue the project from the previous govt nuclear wise (not defending that govt either dear God, just stating the facts lol) - yeah, no involvement war wise that is correct, nothing to say, that was based of him - "freedom of speech back" is insane when he helped implement one of the most aggressive online censorship regimes in the Western world + people jailed for tweets (which is something now people accuse us of the EU of doing union-wise even tho that's not a thing in most countries here), encrypted messages subject to scanning, FUCKING WIKIPEDIA threatened to leave the UK, while simultaneously rolling back trans rights he personally promised to protect, caving to far-right framing on social issues + again deploying dsytopian provably faulty facial recognition against protesters in this case - he raised the cost of hiring, raised the cost of selling your company, raised the cost of existing as a company in general lol the UK economy (GDP wise at least which i know is a faulty metric bu still) is now beaten by the Italian economy - the NHS waitlist remain well above pre-pandemic levels, the 18-week treatment standard hasn't been met since 2016 iirc idk mate i think my british friends are right to call him out on this shit lol

@Cas_LibDem @catgirlprostate They overestimated Labour's vote share by 4 points, got Reform's pretty much bang on and slightly underestimated the Tories, Lib Dems and Greens. (I believe all, apart from Labour, within the margin of error.)

@fbgatgomt420 @ShitpostGate I'm a Gen Z Briton and have only every used/understood kilograms. That said, like many units of measurements in the UK, it depends on age and context. Lots of people older me than me use stone, which I've just never learnt. (Same with cm vs feet and inches for height.)

Not at all keen on giving British political parties, already collectively known for their statistical shitfuckery, what is potentially a very expansive excuse.

@ElPinkFloydian @hugssomb While I completely understand your defence of it given that context, I actually think this strengthens one of Tom Scott's arguments. Just as he said, people's ignorance as to how electronic voting works was fertile ground for people seeking to sow distrust in electoral processes.

@ElPinkFloydian @hugssomb Thanks for that context. I'd seen some Brazilians defending it in a way that did seem a bit odd, and wasn't sure why. I should have really worked it out, as I know a little about Brazilian politics and had seen a similar thing with Democrats in the US because of Trump's lies.

@stiff_where7899 @damnedandone @g00doldays @tastykacey14 It also depends on accents, though. In my accent (British/London), if I say 'two pock' it sounds nothing like how he pronounces his name. Whereas, if I say 'two pack', it's a lot closer. (Also, to my ear, I can hear either pack or pock in that video!)
