“soft spot” is often the closest natural english translation but it does not fully capture the pain/worry nuance of 아픈 손가락 (apeun songarak). while they both deal with having a special place in your heart for someone, the “flavor” of the emotion is different. soft spot = fondness or weakness for someone, often warm or affectionate 아픈 손가락 = someone who causes you the most worry, sympathy, or lingering heartache so depending on context, better translations can be: * the one i worry about most * the one i feel most sorry for * the one that breaks my heart a little * the person i’m especially concerned about in short: you might have a ‘soft spot’ for someone because they make you smile, but someone is your ‘apeun songarak’ because they make you want to cry for them.
