In the wake of the Nat'l Guard deployment and police dept. takeover, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser wants to make D.C. a state, saying, "It’s times like this when America needs to know why your nation’s capital, a place where 700,000 taxpaying Americans live, should be the 51st state.”

On Monday, as President Trump ordered National Guard troops into D.C., a trial began to determine whether his decision to send 4,000 National Guard troops to California in June, bypassing CA Gov. Gavin Newsom, violated the law.

The Trump administration struck a deal with Mexico to extradite 26 cartel members, including the leader of the "Los Cuinis" cartel, to face prosecution in the U.S. They are scheduled to fly to the U.S. today. The deal required the DOJ's agreement not to seek the death penalty.
