Many CCSD93 elementary schools host Open Houses this week! Roy DeShane celebrates tonight with Literacy Night + a Scholastic Discovery Fair all week in the Innovation Center. It’s not your average book fair: STEAM-powered with books & hands-on kits!

Look what’s growing at the CCSD93 Early Childhood Center! Preschoolers are digging into their garden unit by growing herbs in a classroom tower. They document progress daily while caring for the plants, building observation skills and responsibility.

Yesterday, Cloverdale 5th graders connected classroom learning to real life with a unique panel discussion featuring local leaders from Public Works, Park District, Library, Rotary & DuPage judges! Students asked thoughtful questions about working together to improve daily life.

English learners at Jay Stream have been preparing for mock interviews for summer jobs (babysitter, barista, golf caddy & more), creating resumes & practicing responses. Today, they interviewed with district leaders. It was an authentic experience they can draw on in the future!

Paging Elsie Johnson 4th graders! Today, students “operated” on fractions & decimals. Rotating as surgical teams, they solved math problems to complete procedures. They were even issued “doctor” credentials, complete with surgical masks, ID badges & equipment!

Congrats to our 228 4th & 5th Grade Orchestra students on their final concerts this week! Performing at their future middle schools, they showcased a year of hard work, growth and dedication. It’s been amazing to see their progress. Well done to all!

Today, Jay Stream 6th graders explored water’s impact locally and globally during Water Immersion Day with SCARCE. They learned about flooding, stormwater & conservation, & even took home tools to continue learning. Thanks to SCARCE and partners for an inspiring day!

Italian students from both CCSD93 middle schools met at Stratford for their annual Italian Mixer today! 🇮🇹 They enjoyed pizza, music, trivia and made their own cannolis while celebrating their learning. A fun (and tasty!) way to practice Italian and connect!

Roy DeShane 3rd-5th graders recently practiced lifesaving skills through the Kids Heart Challenge! Students learned hands-only CPR and AED use, and heard a real story of a student saving a teacher. Special thanks to the Foglia Family Foundation. These skills truly save lives!

3rd graders at Cloverdale became engineers today! The DuPage ROE STEM Squad led a hands-on lesson on forces and motion. Using simple materials, students built balloon-powered cars and raced them, bringing Newton’s laws to life in a fun, engaging way.

Today, 7th graders at Jay Stream got a hands-on history experience with real Civil War artifacts on loan from Cantigny! They examined authentic pieces from the era, analyzing their use and asking thoughtful questions to meaningfully connect with history.

CCSD93 Innovation Media Specialists use checkout data to phase books out of circulation. Before break, Jay Stream students used Jaybucks, earned by demonstrating positive behaviors, to purchase these retired books while enjoying lemonade. Hundreds of books found new homes!

Spring literacy was in full bloom for Western Trails kindergarteners this week! After reading Chicka Chicka Peep Peep, students went on an egg hunt, finding word-filled eggs and working together to build complete sentences, bringing the story to life through hands-on learning.

This week, Stratford’s International Culture Club hosted a Cultural Fair w/booths, student performances, henna art & raffles! 17 cultures were celebrated by 150 attendees. Thanks to booth hosts, club members & advisors for making it an amazing showcase of our diverse community!

Roy DeShane 1st graders are shining bright! In their “Sun & Shadows” unit, they explored how light affects shadows using flashlights, gnomes & outdoor observations, connecting their learning to the sun’s movement & patterns in nature, aligning with IL Science Standards!
