Arrivals day for my @Mariposa_Nature Orchid Conservation Alliance guests here in Rhodes, and 12 species of orchid enjoyed at leisure this afternoon within a couple of minutes of our rural hotel, including last of the season's Ophrys sitiaca, and a new colony of O. sancti-isidorii

16/3/26 Cumbria - Today's stereotypically British weather was a stark contrast to the glorious sun I enjoyed in Cyprus last week. There are some lovely spring species emerging but this fabulous example of Moschatel (Adoxa moschatellina) delighted me most of all #wildflowerhour

Been in Rhodes a couple of days and already lining up the #orchid rarities for my @Mariposa_Nature guests. It's lovely to see old friends back for another flowering season - and to make some new acquaintances too.

Went looking for Yellow Star-of-Bethlehem along the Swale yesterday as I’d not seen it on the river before. First site (unsurprisingly) drew a blank but success at another just downstream of Richmond. Only two plants and on the edge of an ever widening footpath. @BSBIbotany

Great Grey Shrike today at Pig Bush in the New Forest. Amazing to watch it catch a lizard and fly up to impale it onto a thorn in a small hawthorn tree. Also saw Dartford Warblers and distant Goshawks. @hantsbirdnews @HOSbirding @HantsIWWildlife @BirdGuides @RareBirdAlertUK
