Let’s kick off Day 2 about Insurance: 🛡️ Insurance & Even Money One of the most misunderstood parts of blackjack is insurance. Casinos present it as protection — but in reality, it’s a separate side bet. Understanding this now will save you money immediately. 🎲 What Is Insurance? Insurance is offered only when the dealer’s upcard is an Ace. The casino asks: “Insurance?” You can bet up to half of your original wager that the dealer has blackjack. If the dealer has a 10-value card underneath → insurance pays 2:1 If not → you lose the insurance bet. Your original hand continues normally either way. 💰 Why Insurance Is a Side Bet Insurance has nothing to do with your hand. You are NOT protecting your cards.
