Who is advising the GoI? There is no social demand for this Trans Bill Amendment. There is no political benefit from this. I don't recall this being an issue even for the RSS. Why are they in a hurry to pass this?

Crimes committed against trans people, including rape? *Maximum* 2 years. But charges that can be weaponized against trans people? 10 years to life. Very protective of the marginalized community indeed. This obnoxious disparity will surely not harm and marginalize them further.

We now have a transgender "protection" bill that is more threatening to trans rights than protective. They dismissed every trans voice and concern, rejected self-identity even though trans identity is rooted in self-perception. And the penalties in this bill are wretched.
