@Nig_Farmer @Naij_Farmer But I always think maybe it's only in northern part of the Nigeria sugar cane does well or is it applicable in southern part as well
English

I was asked what would be my choice from this question.
My choice in Ascending order
- 5ha Sugarcane
- 1.5ha Palm oil
- 2ha Cocoa
- 3ha Cashew
Let me break it down a bit.
Sugar Cane
What many people do not know is Sugar is also a Perennial crop though not as long living as palm oil or cocoa but you have few years it regrows itself and it is a big deal in the northern part of Nigeria. If you have 5ha sugar cane farm just go and resign you'll be baby boying till you leave this world.
Palm oil
Palm oil has one of the easiest value chains in Nigeria. It has so much use when you harvest, nothing is for waste. You don't even have to be there to manage it. Palm oil will always have a standard market and you're sure of your yearly nonstop return.
Cocoa
In the last year or two, we have all fallen in love with Cocoa bcs of the price. We are happy because of the misfortune of Ghana and Cote d'voire due to pest on their Cocoa farm. The value chain of Cocoa is stressful it has its own cabal. When Ghana and Cote d'voire gets back on their feet Cocoa price would fall and we will shift attention. However you'll reap yearly from Cocoa but you'll only sell cheap as a farmer not aggregator or exporter.
Cashew
The most important thing on cashew is the nut, the pulp is more like a waste in Nigeria bcs we don't have a standardized cashew juice factory so people farm cashew for the nut. You can either process the nut and sell or just sell to aggregators for export either way you are not in charge of your own crop harvest but rely on others.
All the crops are great money spinner for investors, you'll reap good value but looking at the lens of post harvest sustainability, revenue, less work and current world food situation.
You'll agree with my choice.
Juma'at Mubarak 🌙🙏
