Does the economy need to collapse first before everyone realizes modern universities/colleges have evolved into a scam?? They promise to prepare millions of young people for employment, then deliver this - 1.2M grads competing for just 17k roles in the UK...this year alone... If you're planning on becoming another one of these grads, the only guarantee you'll find after graduating is a lower chance of employment.

𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟰: 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹. Enough tutorials. Time to get my hands dirty. Today was about finding a project that combines everything I’ve learned - Python, SQL, APIs, and data pipelines. 🧵 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 Building an ETL pipeline for a REST API. The goal: Pull data from the Premier League API, parse it with Python, load it into a SQL database, and build live Premier League standings. Real data. Real API. Real pipeline. This is data engineering in action. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻 Using GET requests to fetch data from the API. Transform it in Python. Load it into my database. Eventually visualize live standings. It’s the full ETL cycle - Extract, Transform, Load. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜 𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆 Researched guided projects on YouTube to find the right one. Wrote out the pseudocode - both high-level and low-level. Set up my GitHub repository. Installed Git and got everything ready. Tomorrow, we build. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗜𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 This is where learning becomes real. Not just following tutorials. Actually building something that works. This project combines APIs, Python, SQL, and databases. All the pieces I’ve been learning separately, now working together. This is what hiring managers want to see. Not certificates. Working projects. 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆 Stop consuming. Start building. Plan before you code. Pseudocode saves time. Real projects beat tutorials every time. 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟰 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲. Tomorrow we feast. I’m excited. What’s the first real project you ever built? #DataAnalysis #DataEngineering #Python #SQL #BuildingInPublic #Datafam
