Attempted my own Ciara v. Rihanna verzuz bracket last night and gave up after 25 minutes. The issue is Ciara has 20.. for sure. Rihanna could go for 20 and, an extra 20 more.

By your own logic about target audience, the comparison doesn’t even hold. You’re labeling Ciara as an R&B act and Rihanna as a pop star, then trying to put them in the same conversation when their reach isn’t the same. Ciara’s impact is strong within the culture, but her hits haven’t scaled globally the way Rihanna’s have. Rihanna isn’t just big in one lane she’s a worldwide force, and the numbers reflect that.

@deeleeshis Right! Like…I hate to remind folks but Rihanna is a pop artist. Ciara is an RnB artist. Absolutely no one that Verzuz is designed for wants to hear “Shut Up and Drive” or “We Found Love” over “Like A Boy” and “Oh”.

The thing is….for the Verzuz demographic, a lot of Ciara hits could easily outshine a lot of Rihanna hits

@_romeko Ignorant because I don’t think non black Americans should have an opinion surrounding R&b and HipHop culture? I don’t care what they’ve studied; especially if they’re disrespecting black American artists. I’ve yet to see them add anything valuable to the conversation.
