I think what frustrates me about (most) licensed TTRPGs is that the licensor rarely understands the medium, and so they don’t understand the possibilities of adapting their work. This is how you end up with nuanced, emotional, vibrant work being shoved into a D20 derivative.

@MemesterOTWPod Ironically Nickelodeon went almost the complete opposite way, two sort of ok seasons (Beast Morphers and Dino Charge) and a bunch of great sentai premises totally ruined for PR (Samurai, Ninja Steel and above all the anniversary meta season anti heroic Pirate Rangers)

@MemesterOTWPod Everyone was worried going into the Disney era but they really put out 4 awesome seasons in their run (Ninja Storm, Dino Thunder, Jungle Fury, RPM) & except for Overdrive the others were still pretty good (SPD, Mystic Force). Even Overdrive had a cool concept just badly executed

@MemesterOTWPod To me it's one of the swingiest shows. Individual arcs are some of the best out there but the whole thing hangs together a bit poorly. Non high school, super powered adult rangers with an interesting setting are all big pluses for me though

@MemesterOTWPod I think the comics (& recent movie) show that there is great potential for older skewing PR but the mainline has remained in kids TV for the toy sales & that always hampers them getting above a certain level. Only RPM really got to go ham and that's cause they thought it was over
