A Devon care worker has been jailed for 12 months after being caught on film physically abusing an elderly patient. The victim, a 94-year-old man who was partially-sighted and had limited physical mobility, was a resident at Langford Park nursing home in Devon.

A selective school that excluded children whose parents could not game the catchment area or tutor the entrance exam. You did not pay fees, Andrew. You paid tutors. Now you lecture parents who, unlike you, are honest about paying for education rather than manipulating the system to pretend they are not. The parent paying twenty five thousand pounds a year for a dyslexic child because the state system you run has a three year waiting list for assessment. They are not charitable, you declare. They are just selfish. While you, the man who never created a job, never built a business, went from university straight to the union machine. You are the arbiter of virtue. Here is what is charitable, Andrew. Paying taxes for a state system you do not use, then paying private fees because that system failed your child. That is not one act of charity. It is two. And you are taxing the second to pay for the first. Which you already broke. But you would not understand that, would you? You have never paid for either. The system simply carried you from council house to Commons. No invoice required. Now then. Sit down. The adults are speaking. And Andrew. Do try to keep up. This is grown up talk. You might learn something if you listen very carefully.

@AlistairCarns had a distinguished military career. It is damning that Benn, Starmer, Hermer, Reeves and others would not listen to him on lawfare, the Northern Ireland Bill, on defence transformation or on financial resources; and all credit to this RM veteran for stepping into the breach and his resignation on principle. His dynamite resignation, on the back of the Healey exit represents the necessary detonation of a political bomb under UK defence; highlighting how screwed up it all really is, how badly Starmer is lying to the country, and how totally irresponsible is this @UKLabour government. Carns is very right on the big things, the MoD and the “centre” are not facing reality on the changing technologies of war, they are not getting the resources they need and they are not defending veterans from lawfare. On this latter and vital point, this is led and encouraged by the UK’s own Attorney General as chief back-stabber. For this, Hermer should be the next to go. And by the way, don’t expect much from the Starmer-loyalist, ex-Para Jarvis….not every Politician has the guts to do what Carns and Healey have just done…
