What just happened in the Oval Office was nothing short of remarkable. What began with questions about security guarantees for a ceasefire with Ukraine turned into an angry shouting match between Trump, Vance and Zelensky. Trump was fuming, ending with, “We have empowered you to be a tough guy…You either make a deal or we are out. You don’t have the cards.”
@orangeblaze@kineticgardens@Scaramucci One thing right: it is my extended family members fighting out there to defend their homes from aggression. But the propaganda machine is in Russia, paying right-wing media to echo their talking points, sow dissent, and erode US power by feeding it to oligarchs.
@emverse@kineticgardens@Scaramucci You trolls amaze me. The Ukrainian political machine is crazy. War is not the only way. A prolonged war is dumb and just will result in more of your brothers and sisters to die.
Here is a recap of the Ukraine situation, for those choosing to reject propaganda and continue seeking truth:
December 1994, Ukraine agrees to give up its nuclear arsenal in return for security guarantees from the US, UK, France, China and Russia.
February 2014, Russia invades and subsequently annexes Crimea, President Obama does next to nothing. War through weakness.
July 2019, Trump admin withholds $250 million in military aid to Ukraine to apply pressure to investigate alleged corruption by Hunter and Joe Biden.
February 2022, Russia invades a weakened Ukraine, world expects Zelenskyy to flee and Kyiv to fall within days. Ukrainians fight bravely for 3+ years, inflict hundreds of thousands of casualties on Russian army, weaken Putin politically.
U.S. has sent ~$70 billion in outdated military equipment to Ukraine since start of war, providing opportunity for U.S. military to modernize its weaponry. We’ve sent an additional $30+ billion in budget support, $75 billion in ancillary appropriations related to war.
~50,000 Ukrainians have died defending their homeland, protecting U.S. and Western interests in the process. Meanwhile, the U.S. President and V.P. are calling democratically-elected Zelenskyy a dictator and berating him in Oval Office in pursuit of a financial payoff.
The U.S. should be thanking Ukrainians, who have fought for our common interests with only modest financial support from a country with a ~$30 trillion GDP.
America can and will reclaim its backbone again soon, with better policy and messaging from common sense moderates.
Slava Ukraina.
@KDmama24@Mar50cC5O@Liz_Cheney If we're America first, why are our leaders regurgitating Russian talking points!??
Ukraine was our allied foothold on Russia's doorstep. We essentially walked away from it because Putin said "I want that."
Putin has been sowing pro-Russia sentiment since his shirtless pics.
Generations of American patriots, from our revolution onward, have fought for the principles Zelenskyy is risking his life to defend. But today, Donald Trump and JD Vance attacked Zelenskyy and pressured him to surrender the freedom of his people to the KGB war criminal who invaded Ukraine. History will remember this day— when an American President and Vice President abandoned all we stand for.
@orangeblaze@kineticgardens@Scaramucci You act like there's only one way to resolve this war, and it's giving Russia what they want. So, how's the weather in St. Petersburg?
Hate to break it to you, but that’s exactly what a peace deal is. There has to be deal. Russia will agree to stop killing Ukrainians and pressing forward and Ukraine promises to stop fighting. If you don’t understand or want that, you are wanting more fighting and death. I would love for Russian to just retreat, but it ain’t happening.
@orangeblaze@kineticgardens@Scaramucci Sorry, remind me how all the countries had to surrender their territory to Germany to end WWII?
If we reward aggressive warmongers with new territory for their aggression, they will only do it again. Putin is in the wrong. Might does not make right.
This isn’t a movie or fairytale Caroline. This is a war. People are dying. Putin is not retreating without a deal. I’m tired of paying for a war that is killing people and the leadership of Ukraine is not interested in peace or even democracy (that administration cancelled elections). Open your eyes!
@miamicool@Scaramucci Trump's version contains fabrications, and isn't really Trump's version. It's Russia's.
The Cold War never ended for Putin. He realized Russia couldn't grow strong enough on its own so he decided to kneecap the US by sowing dissent and injecting propaganda into our discourse.
@Scaramucci Conveniently omitted the NATO issue?
Those who orchestrated this war in the background also had their agenda here. Trump's administration most likely has a real version of the sequence of events you are trying to convey here, without any ommission & with more inclusions.
@leoknyc777@Scaramucci Can confirm, as a Ukrainian-American, watching Trump spit Russian propaganda into Zelenskyy's face felt like being stabbed, each facet of his blathering nonsense a dagger. Had to turn it off.
@Dregus_311@LilSouthrnGrl@RepThomasMassie A commitment to being both bold and wrong is quite a stance! I prefer to correct myself when wrong and not make faulty assumptions.
Yes, I know you probably typo'd "comment." But as the ancient adage goes: check yourself before you wreck yourself.
@emverse@LilSouthrnGrl@RepThomasMassie You didn't mention an era and the highest Tax brackets were pre JFK and well into the 90% range. Hence my commitment 🤷
The GOP budget extends the 5 yr. tax holiday we’ve been enjoying, but because it doesn’t cut spending much, it increases the deficit by over $300 billion/yr. compared to letting tax cuts expire. Over 10 years, this budget will add $20 trillion to US debt.
@emverse@LilSouthrnGrl@RepThomasMassie You really need to research this. Your solution won't even come close to solving the issue and would ruin the economy.
The reason the rich had such high taxes back then is that everyone else were essentially serfs and had no money to tax.
@LeRougeSamurai1@RepThomasMassie Let's start by confiscating Trump's assets, then. God damn it, we played right into Russia's hands. They couldn't match our power, so they funded right-wing media to weaken our country with racism and sexism, erode our government, and bring us down to their level...
@LilSouthrnGrl@Dregus_311@RepThomasMassie Ffs, tax the rich! The most prosperous eras in American history had HIGHER TAXES FOR THE TOP INCOME BRACKETS. Government spending INCREASES prosperity by job creation. TAX THE RICH or they will hoard all the money! Don't support billionaires, they're robbing YOU.
I finally get through to a human, start explaining the situation, and then this.
He disconnected me before I could explain that I CAN'T START A CHAT REQUEST ON THAT ACCOUNT BECAUSE I DO NOT KNOW THE ID.
I can't open a new chat because it recognizes I was just in chat support
@AskPlayStation I can't get through to a human on the chat because, again, I don't know the player ID associated with the email because I didn't create the account.
So I created a new account and spent 40 minutes waiting in a chat queue.
🇺🇦
I know tweets don't make much difference, so if you see this, call, email, fax your local representatives and tell them you want them to represent your support of Ukraine.

And since I missed a day that was apparently a big deal, a friend was kind enough to run it for me... (Spoilers for #Wordle213 below)
@jeffvandermeer There's this long-standing propaganda that "development is good" - been pushed by developers and politicians for decades. Hard to undo the PR.
Infrastructure maintenance and investment into existing communities is good. Development is a money funnel into select, moneyed pockets.
The worst thing about the pro-growth crowd in Tallahassee is they'd sell their souls for the worst kind of growth--no discernment btwn good and bad ideas. AND they're the prevalent mindset yet whine about how they're being constrained. Even as they clearcut everything to hell.
What happens when someone who spouts a lot of b.s. about growth and can't back it up is called on it? They block you because they literally are working off of flawed foundational assumptions and will never not be.
