To those misrepresent the situation surrounding the Nafiu Bala case and the leadership structure of the ADC under David Mark, it is important to state the facts clearly. If anyone wishes to decamp to the NDC, it's your political choice. But; Raph Nwosu did not voluntarily step down, rather, the entire leadership structure he presided over was dissolved by the NEC, which subsequently constituted a caretaker committee under David Mark. Once the NEC, as the highest decision making organ of the party acting in line with its constitution, takes such a resolution, it becomes the official position of the party. For instance, within the APC, after the tenure of Abdullahi Adamu, leadership restructuring processes led to transitional arrangements within the party structure, including appointments made to stabilize the party. Similarly, during President Buhari era, the leadership of Adams Oshiomhole was dissolved and Mai Mala Buni was appointed to head a caretaker committee, all through NEC backed decisions aimed at repositioning the party. Recently, Ganduje also handed over to Prof. Nentawe as caretaker leadership before the emergence of a new elected structure, following NEC guided processes. Political parties retain the constitutional authority to dissolve and reconstitute their leadership through NEC resolutions. Once properly convened, the NEC has the power to appoint caretaker leadership to stabilize the party and guide it toward a legitimate national convention and further democratic consolidation.
