@ESPNAusNZ The trick is to book the travel before the fixture is announced (flexibly, so it can be cancelled/refunded). In fact this year, there were some last-minute cheap flights too.

@nak_98 @JonathanHorn23 Agree it works better in Brisbane and it's become part of the culture. The copycats are doing it haphazardly. Flashing lights are horrible. Thankfully we don't have many at The Gabba (but an increase this year).

@feder98 @JonathanHorn23 Vic clubs should try to create their own atmosphere instead of trying to copy the Gabba. They've ruined the excitement with player goal songs. Just cause it works in Brisbane doesn't mean it works at other venues.

@Duckimusprime @matt__nicholls I’ll take your word for it, but I’ve been to 6 Lions games at the Adelaide Oval since 2022 and didn’t think the turnouts were that bad. Surely Adelaide or Port vs the reigning premiers would sell out for Gather Round.

@feder98 @matt__nicholls It is substantially lower. Lions get bugger all away fans to Adelaide Oval games so they don't get Adelaide Oval during Gather Round.

Maybe it's just me as a supporter of a non-Victorian team but Gather Round is overhyped rubbish. Magic Round in the NRL is superb because you can watch all games in one venue over three days. I just don't see what the attraction is other than AFL media and corporate junkets.

@Duckimusprime @matt__nicholls Not sure that it would be substantially lower than the number of Fremantle, Melbourne and St Kilda supporters. Even West Coast have played Gather Round at the Adelaide Oval.

@julieburgess623 @matt__nicholls Yep, Barossa is a long way from Adelaide. I'm lucky a family member is hiring a car. So much of these logistics had to be arranged when the fixture came out (because it'd be so expensive to book last-minute).

@feder98 @matt__nicholls Brisbane fans have the furthest (most expensive) to travel. Not worth it if you then have to hire a car to the Barossa and then have to worry about being able to get tickets. We have played North Melbourne for 3 of the 4 years
