Turns out the snake incident with the girl isn't isolated. There's a whole crisis with the Abuja central sewing system. If you live in Abuja there's a chance u have snakes as well in your drainage pipes. Since your governments have refused to protect you, make sure you protect yourself. Regularly pay the experts to do routine checks and make sure you clear the bushes around your house and regularly fumigate. Also never go to the toilet in the dark. Also, from time to time flush some insecticides down your toilet. Apparently bush cobras cover approximately 92% of Nigerian land. Be safe. Finally, remember that every preventable death is a policy decision... Peter Obi's time is now !!!

I love capturing photographs of beautiful restaurants and coffee shops, and Harare has plenty of them. We tip our hats to restaurateurs - it’s not easy to run any kind of business in Zimbabwe given the challenging economic environment. Yet every day, they wake up and try again. These restaurants serve great food, and their service providers are always pleasant. Through my posts, I try to highlight this goodness - the beauty and resilience of our country. It’s not all doom and gloom; there is so much positive to celebrate. Whenever I get the chance, I aim to showcase the goodness and spread the love.

It turns out Zimbabwe Maize production was around one million metric tonnes and not the 2.3m metric tonnes the budget envisaged. Meaning Zimbabwe has lifted the ban on maize imports. The rather big question is how did we get the numbers so flagrantly wrong?

There is no formula it depends on the relationship you have with particular individuals. If you are unsure , it’s best to notify them of your morning routine in advance. Before you retire to bed, let them know that you’re an early riser and will be waking up early in the morning to make cup of coffee.

My biggest takeaway from reading about the 2017 Mugabe resignation is how intelligence and diplomatic corp failed. As citizens we assume our government intelligence services are professional and driven by a logic, facts and sane minds. Allowing policy makers to be well informed. I guess not. It’s unbelievable that the little resourced by alert French embassy was the first to raise the siren - apparently Total were the first to know something was amiss before the whole world. The shambolic response by everyone was down to ZERO scenario analysis in which Mugabe could be overthrown. Thanks to Miles for giving us a glimpse of how the public service works. It’s a must read!

Police shoot armed 65-year-old robber after movie-style high-speed chase from Harare to Marondera. A suspected armed robber is currently under police guard at Parirenyatwa Hospital after being shot and arrested following a dramatic high-speed chase from Harare to Marondera. The suspect, identified as 65-year-old Kenny Magena, was apprehended hours after allegedly participating in an armed robbery at a residence in Harare. On April 26, Magena, along with his accomplices Collen Marion Banda, Kudakwashe Mawonya, Felix Tagonera, and Clemence Fadzai Manyika, allegedly conspired to rob Costas Andreas Klostris at his residence. The gang is said to have laid an ambush, awaiting Klostris’s return. According to court documents, Klostris arrived home at approximately 4.30pm and, upon parking his car, was immediately accosted by the robbers. The assailants, wearing balaclavas and armed with two pistols, reportedly manhandled Klostris and ordered him out of his vehicle, demanding money. Sensing the imminent danger, Klostris complied with the robbers’ demands, directing them to a small basket in the car containing money. The robbers allegedly stole US$13 500 before fleeing the scene, leaving Klostris tied up. After managing to free himself, Klostris promptly reported the incident to the police. Law enforcement officers swiftly spotted the getaway vehicle speeding away from the scene towards Harare, initiating a hot pursuit. During the chase, police fired warning shots in an attempt to stop the fleeing suspects. When the gang eventually stopped, they bolted out of the motor vehicle in an attempt to evade arrest. Detectives responded by firing shots, hitting Magena in the left lower limb, causing him to fall to the ground. Magena was subsequently apprehended, along with his accomplices. A search of the getaway vehicle yielded a black 9mm Retay MOD 92 blank pistol with serial number RIYREROYSO1-2407082, a bottle of paper spray, 1 pair of gloves, two grinder discs, and cable tiers. Police also recovered US$13 116 from his accomplices. Magena, who sustained a gunshot wound, was referred to Parirenyatwa Hospital for medical treatment. His condition is reported to be stable.
