City Power teams in different Service Delivery Centres (SDCs) have so far managed the high demand of electricity very well with fewer outages reported across Johannesburg overnight and on weekend. After the coldest night of Sunday we opened this morning with less than a thousand outage calls(928), with problematic areas such Roodepoort, Hursthill and Randburg reporting an avarage of 100 calls each this morning. We are thankful to the residents for heeding our call to change their behaviour and use power sparingly and to unplug non essential appliances during this inclement weather, and to use other sources to warm their homes and prepare meals, thus freeing up some space on the grid. Our teams will continue to be on high alert with more resources directed to problematic areas, as adverse temperatures are set to continue this way in the coming days. We are seeing more calls coming from Bromhof and surrounds, parts of Parktown, and Reuven area. Teams are attending to those.
