@elonmusk By "all-time high", are you talking about drugs? Or are you holding the usage graph upside down?

While I'll keep this twitter account (as long as it is free), I've moved most of my activity and updates to mastodon: @hackerfactor@noc.social

@elonmusk Just to be clear: You overpaid $44B so you could run a political ad. Moreover, you didn't run the ad until most of the viewers had already left AND the ad sponsor (you) had lost all credibility. #fail

Due to the ongoing (mental) instability and increasing untrustworthiness on Twitter, I've removed the direct posting links to Twitter from FotoForensics.

@elonmusk Why is your trending tweets system promoting a hashtag that is associated with child pornography? Does @twitter still have someone who can report these to NCMEC?

@Pin__Terest Rack mounted. All power and external network come from ceiling drops. So, yeah, big power cables are separate from in-rack network cables.

@hackerfactor Awesome! I’m guessing, you probably carefully route the cables along the walls / surfaces. I’m old school. I’m still don’t place power cables near data cables. I know they’re shielded, but still. Also, no loops to preclude induction. I suppose I’m showing my age.

Just spend a few hours trying to figure out why the router wasn't opening for test service. Turns out, I was trying to configure the wrong router. (Doh!) Time to start up the label maker!

@Pin__Terest Each tag has the HW server name (not hostname) and the network name. This way, I can easily see that every cable in a hub is on the same network AND which machine it at the other end.

@Pin__Terest I ended up going to the machine room and tracing cables. That's when I realized that I was configuring router #7 and tracing the cable to router #9. Router #9 was unlabeled (not anymore!) I use my laser cutter to make custom tags on every cable end, so tracing was easy.

@hackerfactor Oh yes. Colored sharpies, colored tape, & labels are your friends. For equip that travels, I’ve marked my cables & corresponding ports, so I can assemble and disassemble, and know I have all the pieces. 1 goes to 1, 2 goes to 2, etc. It works great when I’m tired.

@campuscodi Honest question: Here's what I don't get. They KNOW they are going to get kicked off of cloudflare, digital ocean, google, aws, azure, etc., so why do they always start there?

Long ago, a little kid asked that I did. I told him computer security research. He asked what that meant, and I replied "I make grown ups cry." He totally got it.

Over the next year(s), as @Twitter (a once strong advocate of #netneutrality) is pressured to pursue new levels monetization, I think we may see many new issues unfold -- not just around free speech, but who gets equitable access to it.
