@wp_acf OK, it looks like this is possible; which is great.
It does mean disabling the in-editor block UI and only allowing a preview. Block fields move to the block sidebar.

Anyone know the current status of the iframed editor when using @wp_acf blocks? I _really_ want to update my editor to the iframe version, but not sure if this is possible with ACF.
