@trampo322 I honest to god just wing it and do it differently every time. If I had to suggest something, it would be to do the mouth + teeth + gums as one piece, tongue as one piece, and lips + rest of face as a separate piece. Weld gums + lips later if you're having issues with gaps

Hair is down to 8k triangles - I will try to shave it down to 5k tomorrow. With some cleanup, I'm hoping to have the entire avatar at sub 40k, but I'm not sure how realistic this will be - the hands alone are at 8k.

Ended up having to iterate a bit more than I had expected to on these chicken UV's. I would have liked to carve up the fluff more, but I know a lot of you want to paint directly on the UV's in Photoshop, so that becomes a big factor for me to keep in mind!

@Someone14083233 At that point I was halfway through merging all the hair tufts into one solid "Shell". I use randomized object colors often to see which meshes are unique. It is now 100% welded, and I ended up at 6k triangles :-)
