I'm going to tell you a completely made up, hypothetical story. Any resemblance to real exchanges, living or dead, is entirely coincidental. Imagine an exchange doesn't list XRP despite it obviously being in their business interest. They ask Ripple for millions of dollars to list, and we refuse. Months pass. We're at a standstill. They refuse to list. We refuse to pay. They concede they'd list if we didn't exist. To the outside world, the refusal to list appears inexplicable. Finally, Ripple works out a deal where we give the exchange money and they list XRP. XRP immediately becomes 20% of the exchange's revenue. We are pissed, but what else could we have done? Had we not existed, the exchange would have listed months ago. We paid money to not let our existence hurt the ecosystem. Then a litigation adversary selectively uses some of these facts to imply we were using money to unfairly boost XRP adoption or liquidity. If that actually happened to you, would you be pissed off?

I believed I have replied to this. As I stated above: "There is no hardwired code at the silicon level which prevents it from a pure technical point of view." The only way to make sure that the harware wallet is not capable to sending the private key is to have a firmware that is programmed to do so. You can't have a microprocessor that is hardwired to not do high level things, like "this looks like a private key on the communication bus, let's power off immediately". A naive solution to remove such capability would be to prevent firmware upgrades. The issue with that is that it would be impossible also to patch security issues when found. The security model of the Nano X is the same since its inception, and part of it relies on the fact that Ledger would never release a firmware that would break security.
