@alischwanke Team huddles on Tuesday and Thursday mornings to check bandwidth, align on priorities and have any full-team project discussions. Otherwise it’s communication via Teams as necessary and every other week 1x1s to chat about anything they want.

If you’re a team leader, do you host daily standup meetings in person? Or do you do a longer meeting once a week and then daily slack updates for priorities? Or something else?

Back in the day, I did kickboxing regularly for catharsis/aggression release. Turns out I don’t enjoy it any more. What should I try?

@MaryKateGulick Catch them and feed them to the lizard! Those aren’t free. Unless they’ve started breeding in the dresser, then give them some water and lettuce! Now you’ve got a self-sustaining population and you’ll never need to buy crickets again.

So the crickets that my 13-yo feeds to his lizard escaped and there are about 25 of them living in his dresser. The big question: Do I push the dresser out the window or just firebomb the house?

@heydannypeavey @alischwanke Feels like this is the sign of a poorly run internal team. If the marketing team ISN’T looking at things from an external (specifically the customer’s) POV then why are they even there. Just let the product managers do all the “marketing” or get a third-party partner.

@alischwanke They are too close to everything. They can’t see the forest from the trees or the label from outside the jar

What are some of the challenges inhouse marketing teams face?

@alischwanke If I had a dollar for every time an internal client didn’t have a dollar, I’d retire. Just because there is an in-house team doesn’t mean marketing shouldn’t be accounted for in every product, program or service budget. Our time and capacity can’t be taken for granted.

@amymersch @alischwanke This is a major obstacle. You’d be amazed how many half-baked ideas get shuffled over to marketing to “figure out.” If you as a product/program manager don’t know what exactly it is, how do you expect us to market it?

@alischwanke Being tasked with things that really aren't marketing-related ("oh, give that to Marketing"), thereby taking focus away from more strategic initiatives.
