@hotel1415 @DavideMastracci a lot of the time, mining and manufacturing done in those areas add chemicals to the water that cannot be boiled away. plus settlers disturbed Indigenous practices with water. if it werent for them, they wouldn’t have advisories to begin with

Serious question for #YIMBYTwitter: where height restrictions per se are the issue, why haven’t developers started building vertically but *down*, underground? I mean windowless apartments don’t sound ideal, but probably less bad than unaffordability and homelessness

@IdilBurale @redesign @josinavink @RSDSymposium and in response to shortcomings of politicians creating systems, we have people in systems design who think they can do better but are just as privileged and detached from realities of things and apply all theory and no practice

@IdilBurale @redesign @josinavink @RSDSymposium for example, i would say people working in city council technically work in systems design, they design systems we live within whether they apply theory or not. and yet we have people on 6 fig salaries of taxpayer $, deciding what is best to resolve poverty they cannot relate to

"It's okay to be a man". It's not okay; It's necessary. You look around cities and see all these buildings go up. These men, they're doing impossible things. They're working on the sewers; they're up on the power lines in the storms and the rain. (1/4)

@mattBernius strategic foresight industry wants courses on community and community theory, without ever having to be a part of one and finding anything out for themselves. detached from reality

@mattBernius how is there a human centred systems course that doesnt already discuss community, humans living in a system? and if the course content isnt delivered from a mindset of equity then what is working from? privilege? probably.

Hey smart folks in my network, does anyone have suggestions for courses similar to IDEO's Human-Centered Systems Thinking but are more aligned with equity and community centered design values? Quite literally, asking for a friend.
