Honestly… I think the Oilers have to stop worrying about what 97 is thinking. There have been a lot of bad signings and other decisions made because of 97 and what he wanted. Here is a wild thought. Do you trade 97 this summer, restocking the franchise and build around 29 (who isn’t going anywhere, he is an Oiler) ? Not the worst idea

@KingsFirstCup @DownGoesBrown Actually it do because there's no conclusive evidence that the puck completely crossed the line, aka white ice between the puck and goal line, even though common sense says it did. Which is why the situation room deemed it inconclusive and they had to go by the call on the ice

This such a weird “controversy”. The puck is in. This look is conclusive. You don’t have to see the whole puck; that would be ridiculous. We all know what shape a puck is. This one is over the line. I hate replay more than just about anyone, but it worked perfectly here.

But in a perfect and fair world the puck was obviously over the line and should be called that way. In order for that to happen the rule would have to be changed

@realfbllliason No one is arguing the puck didn't cross the line, the issue is there's no visible proof that it did which is required by the rules for it to be deemed a good goal. The rule should probably be changed in that regard but OT in game 4 is not the time or place to change it.

Look at the reactions of the Edmonton Oilers VS Anaheim Ducks after the OT winner! The Ducks knew it was in and so did the Edmonton Oilers, nobody is arguing or saying no goal! Say the ref said no goal still would be pleading their case! Everyone on the oilers knew it was in the net! If you don’t think body language doesn’t tell it all, you are a fool!

@lilgiusbox @DownGoesBrown 2/2) the inconsistency is that most times it's called where if you can't see the white between the puck and goal line then its deemed no goal. My take is that goals like this should count 100% of the time because it's obvious the puck crossed the line even though there's no proof

@lilgiusbox @DownGoesBrown 1/2) The rule was always enforced that the puck had to be 100% visible across the line meaning visible white ice between the puck and goal line. There was no camera view showing that on the goal which is why there was confusion on whether or not it should have counted.

My beef is that the NHL needs to be more consistent on calls like this. Same with goalie interference. The rule should be straight across the board

@dstaples The only one I care about losing his mind is McDavid. This year just feels off and it has all season. You can never count them out but if this year is a bust then this offseason is the time to fix things. There'll be money coming off the books, Bowman gotta take advantage of it.

If the Oilers do lose this year, there will be much glee in other NHL cities. In Edmonton many fans and commentators will lose their minds. I hope Oilers management does not.

@TonyBrarOTV No problem with this. That top line has shown good chemistry in the past and McDavid hasn't exactly been playing his best hockey so far. I think the switch is as much about getting 97 going as anyone else.
