Connecting young people to digital networks serves no purpose if they remain disconnected from themselves, others, and their own interiority. We must help young people rediscover silence, reflection, the ability to ask questions, the depth of relationships, and openness to transcendence. To listen to the soul, we must lend an ear, because the soul's voice is not a shout, but a whisper.

I have just made our latest product (Modos Flow) open-source: gitlab.com/zephray/enchan…. With complete source code (for both MCU and FPGA) and PCB design source file in KiCAD. It's a 300-ppi Eink portable monitor with 60Hz refresh rate and touch screen:

Today, among the goods that are universally intended for everyone, we must also include new forms of property, such as patents, algorithms, digital platforms, technological infrastructure and data. In a context where the wealth of nations depends increasingly on knowledge and technology, when these goods remain concentrated in the hands of a few, without adequate forms of sharing and access, a new imbalance is created that contradicts the universal destination of goods. In turn, it widens the gap between the included and the excluded, between those who can participate in the digital revolution and those who remain on the margins. #MagnificaHumanitas

@thinkingshivers Is the sentence necessary at all? Readers may be able to ascertain that quality from her behavior or speech

I submitted a draft of my short story to Claude for copy editing. Sometimes he’ll suggest a re-write of a particular sentence. My version: “She was just a rich girl, with a carelessness about her that could only come from being born into privilege.” Claude’s suggestion: “She was just a rich girl, careless in the way only privilege allows.” It's a matter of taste, but I personally think Claude's version is better. It's saying the same thing but more deftly. But when I swap his sentence in then plug the paragraph into Pangram, it goes from being high confidence that it's human to low confidence that it's human. If I keep doing this, will it start to read like AI slop? If I keep doing this, is it even my writing anymore? So I'm keeping my version, the one I think is worse, and I'm disquieted by the fact that there could be a better version of this story that I now need to specifically avoid.

Was rewatching Game of Thrones (later seasons are still bad), and I think it's kind of sad how in real life there's no causes you can dedicate your life to and they'll take you in, no questions asked.

@thinkingshivers Next you should read ISHMAEL by Daniel Quinn which is about a conversation between a man and a gorilla. Unlike anything else I've ever read!

This was also excellent. I don’t have any witty social commentary to add, it was just a great sci-fi book. I’m impressed, it totally lives up to Ender’s Game imo. Maybe less elegant, but better tension and intrigue. What should I read next?

Finally read Ender’s Game. It was great, as expected. One worldbuilding element I found funny was the stigma associated with having more than two kids. I guess when it was written, the world was still in the grip of Malthusian overpopulation fears. Now the slur “thirdie” means something quite different!

At times, the joy that life attacks me with is unbearable and leads to gasping hysterical laughter. I find myself completely out of control and wonder how could life could surprise me again and again and again, so completely. How could a man be a cynic? It is a sin.

Does anyone with experience in the sports analytics world (especially hockey or soccer) follow me? I’d love to talk about potential applications of individual skill evaluation systems there to League of Legends. Pls reply here and I’ll DM.

🍋 Mediterranean Lemon Chicken Soup Ingredients (Serves 4) 2 cups cooked chicken (shredded, rotisserie works great) 6 cups chicken broth 1/2 cup rice (or orzo) 3 large eggs 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice (about 2 lemons) 2 tbsp olive oil 1/2 onion, finely chopped 2 cloves garlic, minced 2 tbsp fresh dill, chopped (or 1 tsp dried) Salt & pepper to taste Instructions 1. Sauté aromatics Heat olive oil in a pot over medium heat Add onion → cook 3–4 minutes until soft Add garlic → cook 1 minute 2. Build the soup Pour in chicken broth Bring to a boil Add rice (or orzo) → simmer 10–12 minutes until tender 3. Add chicken Stir in shredded chicken Simmer 3–5 minutes to heat through 4. Make it creamy (key step!) In a bowl, whisk eggs + lemon juice Slowly ladle in 1–2 cups hot broth while whisking (to temper eggs) 5. Finish the soup Reduce heat to low (VERY important—no boiling!) Slowly pour egg-lemon mixture into soup while stirring 6. Final touches Add dill Season with salt & pepper Heat gently until slightly thickened (don’t boil or it may curdle) Serve Garnish with extra dill Add a lemon wedge for brightness Drizzle a little olive oil on top Tips Want it thicker? Add a bit more rice or less broth Prefer extra tangy? Add more lemon juice at the end Great for meal prep—just reheat gently (no boiling) Flavor Silky, lemony, herby, and cozy—like sunshine in a bowl
