@rowingcanada @coachblade At the annual 3.5 km race between UVic and UBC on the Gorge course over the Easter weekend, the UBC Women’s race was won by UBC in 11 mins 29 sec, 8 seconds faster than UVic. The winning men’s time was 10 mins 7 secs, 1 min 22 sec faster than the women’s victor. Clearly the men are considerably faster than the women. Can you imagine which women’s boat would have won had one or two male rowers , with the appropriate gender altering paperwork, had been included in the UVic boat ? Would that victory be earned ? It wouldn’t be a level playing field. Do you have any compassion for the displaced rowers excluded , so that two men can fulfil their fetiches’ ? Far from being inclusive, it is the opposite. Mixed crews are prohibited from the Olympics and Rowing Canada should face reality and keep women’s rowing for XX athletes.
