How many tunnels ran under the city? Why was Hamas free to build such tunnels for decades? The rules of war are quite clear: if civilian infrastructure is used for military purposes it becomes a legitimate military target. Given that Hams built its military tunnel network underneath the length and breadth of civilian infrastructure across Gaza, Hamas chose to make all that infrastructure a legitimate military target. Further, the death rate in Gaza is 3.5%. That is not a "genocide" by any stretch of the imagination. Hamas' own figures say that the deaths are about 70,000. Gaza's population is about two million. Thus a death rate of 3.5%.
