@ww1australiamap @digginggardener @fovantbadges Many thanks. We look after #Shiny7th and #RoyalWarwicks (suttonbadges.org.uk/the-badges/). Shiny 7th was restored in 2018. It’s just been strimmed but needs a bit of work still. Coincidentally we were busy on Royal Warwicks yesterday …

A great day with four of us working our socks off. A large section of the northern coast of #Australia is now weeded and rechalked. #WW1

Had the pleasure of guiding Tisbury Footpath Club around our #WWI camps and badges yesterday. Gorgeous evening - downs covered in flowers & butterflies. #RoyalWarwicks #Shiny7th

A good day today, working with @suttonbadges on the Shiny 7th chalk badge, cut into the downland during #WW1. Along with @ww1australiamap & the Royal Warwickshire badge (all WW1) they were abandoned in the early 2000's, but thankfully all now being cared for.

The dandelions have stopped flowering but from #Shiny7th you can still see the shape of the camps in the #cropmarks

English

On #RoyalWarwicks badge this afternoon, doing a bit of weeding. Dandelions still doing their #cropmarks thing on the #WWI camps. Rewarded with a fairy ring and splendid views!

English

@HelenR864 Not really sure - it might be soil chemistry due to chalk being used for the tracks. They are very striking! #cropmarks
English

@suttonbadges I would be interested to know why the dandelions are growing the way they are? Do they prefer the land that was once tracks in the camp, ie, better drained than the natural undisturbed soil where the huts stood?
English

Dandelions clearly showing layout of #FWW camp over 100yrs after it was removed. Thousands of soldiers trained here before heading to Western Front including #RoyalWarwicks & #Shiny7th. More here suttonbadges.org.uk/the-camps/
