@mask_bastard Do you think it would benefit from a remake? On paper I like all those points too. I also liked the daughter reveal. I think the execution didn’t work for me. Imagine Denis Villeneuve remade it today.

@talkingkat I felt like the friend, his guy being revealed as the son worked for me. Seeing him go through hell, that really worked for me too. Even the ending where they just cycle back through life again, that worked for me.

@mask_bastard I’m glad you liked it, I’m a little jealous. I watch it every so often just to see if it will win me over. I love all the ideas, but they don’t land for me. That’s why I’d like to see it remade. I feel like they just kinda tell you what the revelations are rather than show

@talkingkat What didn’t you like about it? I found it to be a tremendous adaptation. Cuba Gooding as the friend/son was as warm and charming as he’s ever been. I’m a sucker for Matheson’s writing going all the way back to Twilight Zone

@JackPosobiec Thrawn trilogy was amazing, there were some hidden gems in the EU, but mostly the EU was soft reboot slop.

THE "AMERICA FIRST" CASE FOR AMERICA'S ALLIANCE WITH ISRAEL . . . 1) We currently send $3.8 BILLION per year to Israel. I generally oppose foreign aid; and would have no problem ending this. Israel can take care of itself. 2) But for perspective, it costs us $13 BILLION to build just one aircraft carrier. Israel is a much more valuable asset to us than one aircraft carrier. 3) Israel did 95% of the work last year in OPERATION MIDNIGHT HAMMER. All we really did was drop MOAB bombs on three underground Iranian nuclear weapons development facilities. Without Israel, this relatively easy, cheap military operation would have required massive mobilization and cost hundreds of millions of dollars. 4) Israel is doing more than half of the current military operation. The Israeli Airforce conducted the strike that killed Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, along with at least 47 of Iran's top political and military leaders. 5) Israel conducted the next strike that killed the next layer of Iranian leaders when they were trying to pick a new Supreme Leader. It was primarily Israeli intelligence that made these strikes possible. Israel had spies inside the Regime . . . and likely still does. 6) Israel has been conducting almost all the air and drone strikes on Iran. Our main job is the Navy. The U.S. Navy is required to prevent Iran from using the Strait of Hormuz. This is a relatively risk-free operation for us. It's also quite cheap. Our Navy has to be somewhere. Might as well be in the Strait of Hormuz and Arabian Sea. Pete Hegseth testified the other day that, so far, OPERATION EPIC FURY has cost us $25 BILLION. This is astonishingly cheap. The Blockade is costing the Iran Regime $450 MILLION per day. 7) Israel has tremendous intelligence operations in the Middle East. Israel acts as our eyes and ears in the Middle East. Israel was able to hack into the pagers of 5,000 Hezbollah terrorists and blow them up. That's how capable Israel is. 8) Israel is like a massive U.S. military-base in the Middle East that is almost completely self-sustaining (except for the $3.8 BILLION we send that Israel really doesn't need), and is self-actuating, thinks for itself. 9) Israel has enabled the United States to battle-test the IRON DOME missile defense system, which Israel has vastly improved with its own technological contributions. 10) Israel is a technology powerhouse, especially military technology. We benefit from that. 11) Israel has been a far more reliable and valuable ally to us than Western Europe.
