Last summer, we spent months being ‘optimistic’ about Luis Diaz despite knowing full well there’s no way we’d be able to meet Liverpool’s valuation. We ended up with a loan signing. Think about this logically: Atleti spent close to €100m on him, and he’s on a long term contract. At minumum, we’re looking at €130m here. Which would be absurd.
