Really interesting read, although I know the average is 10%, there can still be some big swings annually which I knew, but not by how much. It adds to that thesis of the long term strategy. If you have cash in there you don’t need right now, thats great and better than most, but bear in mind its not always plain sailing, history tells us we’ll get back there if things take a slight turn! I’m ashamed. After 10+ years of investing, I’ve just discovered I've been building my future on a lie. Like almost everyone else, I blindly believed the claim: "The S&P 500 returns 10% per year on average." Turns out it’s not true. Not even close. 🧵

Good morning Kings and Queens 🙌🏼 School run done. Quick check of the portfolio before heading into a busy day. Always nice opening Trading 212 and seeing a bit of green. I did just spend £4.55 on a black coffee though… daylight robbery 😬 Imagine investing that every weekday instead. Over a year that’s well over £1,000 before any growth. Makes you think how the small habits can either build your wealth or quietly eat away at it.
