You’ve seen them in the comments: “How come Artemis’s crew didn’t zoom in to the “underside” of the supposed globe to show people in Australia upside down? The mission was fake!” Folks, this is exactly the shot flat earthers keep demanding - a zoom from space straight down to the “bottom” of the globe, Australia front and center, upside down. Here’s the thing. Even with this absurd, physically impossible zoom, this is exactly what you’d see on a spherical Earth. If, that is, IF the person who produced it didn’t just rotate the video to match convention. Why would anyone produce such a video? Literally no one cares what Flerfs want, they are irrelevant. They reject gravity. They reject the globe. And then they miss the most basic consequence of both: “down” is toward the center of mass. Every person on Earth stands on their own local vertical. An Australian isn’t hanging upside down - they’re standing just as upright as you are. This is physics taught to ten-year-olds. Incredible it even needs to be addressed. So they keep demanding evidence that, even if handed to them from space, they would immediately misinterpret and still deny. And that’s why these demands don’t get taken seriously. Flat Earth is dead, it’s a zombie conspiracy.

@EIcarim @ManaByte It's certainly reasonable to question things, although if a thing you have not experienced has sufficient evidence to support the truth of that particular thing, I would propose that thing is true whether I believe in its validity or not.

@ultramegamighty @ManaByte To my original point. It is reasonable to question the validity of a thing that you have not personally experienced. Your opinion can lean towards the consensus of a thing being true, but that doesn't make it true, only considered true.

@engineers_feed I heard a take on this that may help. If you were wearing roller skates on a treadmill, and the treadmill matched the speed of your skates, but your friends on either side were pushing you forward by your arms, you would move forward.

@EIcarim @ManaByte And 90% of the times I've been to my doctor, she's been able to pretty effectively narrow down what's wrong, or get me seen by a specialist for that particular issue. I'd rather not throw trust out completely because of individual anecdotes.

@ultramegamighty @ManaByte Funny story, last few times I've been to a doctor, they didn't know what was causing my symptoms. Brother went recently as well. Again, they had no idea.... 90% of doctor visists are "could be this or this or this other thing... take these, see if it helps. Here's a large bill."

@EIcarim @ManaByte I think it's fairly reasonable to put up at least a token level of trust with someone who has demonstrably greater knowledge or experience with a particular thing than you do. If I didn't trust anything I didn't know personally, I'd never go to the doctor.

@ManaByte While I'm not a Falt-Earther, that's a dumb statement. With AI & everything else from CGI & on, that could be faked. Unfortunately, "The only thing I know, is I know nothing," meaning, unless you've done it yourself, you're putting your belief in something on someone elses word.
