My bedroom door didnt even close my entire childhood because my mom kicked it in so many times. I used to tell people my mom was dead when I got to college cause it wasnt a succinct way to describe her abuse, why she wasnt around, her disability, my fear of her. People dont understand parental abuse. It alienates you. Ive definitely had panic attacks in the car as a grown adult just being around my mom
