@jon_d_doe @Emmyglobal1994 Our leaders know Nigerians are too busy battling insecurity and hunger to think straight or ask the real questions. That’s why they keep treating public resources like their personal party budget. Sad reality.
English

@jon_d_doe We have very wasteful politicians who have been enabled to waste our resources on very wasteful ventures.
It's not their personal funds, so they find it very easy to spend on frivolous endeavors.
English

Sir, historically state protocols were never built around crowds of politicians escorting leaders around the world.
In well structured systems, it’s standard: the Armed Forces handle ceremonial departures at home, while reception abroad is handled by the host nation’s officials and your country’s diplomatic mission, led by the Ambassador.
Anything beyond that isn’t protocol sir, it’s performance. Now their sycophancy dressed as loyalty has always been expensive and even now it’s unaffordable for the Nigerian people. This whole charred will cost Nigeria nothing less than 5 billion.
We haven’t even talked about the female escorts that followed them undocumented but their bills has been sneaked into the expenses.
English

True talk. No be by to gather plenty people for airport dey shout and dance like say person dey go party. That kind thing na waste of time and fuel. If President wan travel, na official matter, so military and protocols suppose handle am sharp-sharp.
When leaders carry crowd follow dem, e dey show say dem like eye-service pass real work. To see ministers and governors leave their office just to go wave hand for airport, na that one be the real sycophancy wey dey hold us back. Everything suppose get order and respect for the office.
English

@jon_d_doe You are not aware that there is farewell choppings?..them dey get RBS wey dey follow them go house after bidding the farewell..
English

Thank you so much sir for this excellent observation, I’ve been thinking the same thing but glad you talked about it.
There’s a difference between leadership and loyalty, and we’re slowly blurring that line.
Respect for office is important, but when it starts looking like excessive display, it shift from protocol to performance.
A nation grows when institution work, not w hen individuals are over celebrated.
If everything revolves around one man, then the system it self is weak.
True leadership is not about how many people line up for you, but how well the country functions in your absence.
That’s just how I see it.
English

Protocol exists precisely to prevent power from becoming a personality cult. When officials ignore it, they're not showing love, they're showing you who they really serve.
It is only in Nigeria that a president travels with 36 state governors, all the ministers, NSA, 109 senators and 360 HoR members. What a shame of an administration.
English

@jon_d_doe Not in our case in Nigeria, they must worship him before leaving and the same people will also travel to receive him at his destination
English

@jon_d_doe They have nothing doing so they have all the time. This amplifies the uselessness of Nigerian politicians and there constant misplacing of priorities.
English

@jon_d_doe They have turned official duties into red carpet events.
It's really shameful.
English

@jon_d_doe All of them are just doing eye service non truly like him genuinely and it’s a shame that the poor masses are the ones bearing the brunt, wasting our resources and taxpayers money.
English

@jon_d_doe You want to minimize waste?
You want to cut travelling allowances?
They know what they are doing Sir.
English

@jon_d_doe Most of them will dine and wine with the president a day before his departure, only for them to travel before him because they want to be there for a useless welcoming. I'm not sure if this is how other western countries are doing
English

@jon_d_doe People that don’t have work? They don’t have anything reasonable and impactful doing in their various offices, if not why would they?
English

@jon_d_doe “I’m planning a trip to South Africa next month, and before I go, I’d arrange for my friends and family who live with me to travel down to South Africa, 24 hours before I arrive. That way, they can give me a warm welcome when I get there.”
English

@jon_d_doe The amount of public money and time wasted on these welcome parties, could fix several school roofs. We need less drama in this country and more governance.
English

@jon_d_doe The sycophancy part is not my problem.
Rather the waste of resources, that part is what's giving serious concern.
How can you spend billions of Naira on a visit?
How?
English

@jon_d_doe All they think about is how to waste tax payers money meant for development. If you want to see the president, why can’t you wait for him to come back to the country
English

In diplomacy, the Ambassador is the only body to welcome the President in that foreign land. To suggest that a fleet of domestic ministers must also be there to receive him is to signal a lack of trust in the very institutions the government has built. It is a redundancy that costs the taxpayer and yields zero ROI.
English

@jon_d_doe Facts 😤
Leadership isn’t about making a show it’s about doing the right thing. All this pageantry is just wasting time and taxpayers’ money.
English

@jon_d_doe if we know how much has been budgeted for those travels 🤦 these shows are needed to justify that budget, that's how our leaders operate, very shameful.
English

@jon_d_doe Instead of them to agree and correct themselves, you will see them making same mistakes over and over.
Las las,you will end up seeing the ones they've bought with rice defending them.
zoo
English

They know that, that is how it should be but,
In Nigeria, procedures and protocols only exist, when you call out the government for their lack of accountability. (They will come for you either by hook or crook)
Procedures, processes, and protocols only applies to the masses.
Another thing is, this case in particular, is a way to syphons public funds, by hiking the expenses for the trip.
Remember, election is by the corner so, they need money to buy their ways, back to office.
Shalom !!!
English

@jon_d_doe Hmmm!! Do they really practice what is obtainable in other countries? the answer is no. I said earlier they are showing allegiance to the master.
English

@jon_d_doe You went to bother yourself about the happenings in this country? You'll get frustrated especially when you've visited saner climes. Good morning sir
English

@jon_d_doe Our infamous president needs supporters club to welcome him so it’ll look as though he is loved.
