Restoring what was left behind Did you know that Abandoned Mine Lands reclamation is among the most technically complex and publicly consequential forms of environmental restoration? The work sits at the intersection of geology, hydrology, engineering, ecology and regulation. Success depends on understanding how historic mining practices altered landscapes, how those altered systems behave decades later and how modern reclamation practices can restore natural drainage, rebuild healthy soils, clean waterways and stabilize sites while eliminating features that have scarred the landscape for decades. Atlas’ Clayton Kirk Roderick shares how Atlas is helping transform abandoned mine lands into safe, sustainable environments through thoughtful planning, strategic permitting and proven remediation practices. bit.ly/40Us4K4 Connect with Clayton Kirk Roderick this week at the WV Expo’s West Virginia Construction + Design Expo, where he’ll present on innovative approaches to landslide remediation and sustainable mine land restoration, March 25, 2-3pm in Terrace Room #212 or visit our booth #129 in the Grand Hall. #WVExpo2026 #MineLandReclamation #EnvironmentalEngineering

As states increase efforts to manage the growing inventory of orphan and idle wells, innovative approaches in technology, field coordination and risk-based planning are transforming the possibilities for well-closure programs. At the Energy Conference Network’s upcoming 2nd Annual Orphan, Idle & Marginal Wells California Conference, organized by Energy Conference Network in Bakersfield, AJ Alshammasi will examine the integration of environmental assessments with engineering design, operational execution, the utilization of drone and remote sensing technologies to identify undocumented and high-risk wells, the application of testing and inspection procedures to mitigate risks and the implementation of program and construction management frameworks to achieve consistent, compliant and scalable well closure outcomes. Check out Atlas’s Alex Hartig and AJ Alshammasi’s conference blog to understand how Atlas is contributing to transforming the well-abandonment process. This includes reconstructing incomplete well histories, deploying drone-based geophysical technologies and restoring land for subsequent use. bit.ly/41vJv3L #OrphanWells #EnvironmentalSolutions #EnergyTransition #Geoscience #FieldInnovation #MethaneReduction #InfrastructureManagement #OIWCALI2026

💧 World Water Day: Prioritizing Water Smart Data Center Growth With the accelerating growth of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cloud technologies, water availability is becoming a defining factor in responsible data center development. In honor of World Water Day, Atlas spotlights the technologies and leadership shaping a more sustainable digital infrastructure. Atlas’ Director of Strategic Growth & Advanced Facilities Brian McGowan highlights how data center developers are shifting toward smarter, low water cooling strategies — from closed loop and dry cooler systems to reclaimed water use and advanced monitoring platforms. These innovations not only help significantly reduce overall water usage, but they also support faster permitting, stronger community trust and more resilient long-term operations. Water has moved from a background utility to a strategic resource, and the industry is adapting quickly. 👉 Want deeper insight? Check out Brian’s full Q&A for more on the trends and technologies shaping water efficient data centers. bit.ly/4bCnYuW You can also connect with Brian at the DataCenter Dynamics (DCD) > Connect I New York conference, March 23-24. He is looking forward to joining other digital infrastructure leaders for valuable discussions on the future of data centers. #WorldWaterDay #DataCenters #WaterStewardship #Sustainability #Atlas #AdvancedFacilities #AIinfastructure #DCDNY #DCDConnect #Hyperscale

National Surveyors Week is a time to recognize the essential role surveyors play in mapping, measuring and understanding our world. At Atlas, this work begins with a strong foundation of traditional surveying led by skilled field crews who deliver accurate, reliable results on every project. As the industry continues to evolve, Aerial LiDAR and drone-based geophysics technologies are transforming how spatial data are collected, analyzed and applied across environmental, industrial and geophysical projects. These tools don’t replace traditional surveying, they enhance and expand it, offering new levels of safety, efficiency and high-resolution insight. Atlas is leveraging both traditional survey methods and advanced aerial tools to deliver comprehensive solutions. From locating orphan wells and detecting methane to mapping landfills and identifying subsurface features, drone-enabled geophysics is expanding what’s possible in the field — offering insights that traditional methods alone often cannot achieve. Atlas LiDAR and drone experts Ty Atmaca and Todd Harris share how these technologies, combined with the continued expertise of our survey professionals, are advancing the profession in meaningful ways. Read their full Q&A to see how Atlas is reshaping the future of surveying. bit.ly/3PfwwAA #NationalSurveyorsWeek #LandSurveying #Lidar #Drones

In recognition of NAWIC’s Women in Construction Week, Atlas celebrates the people who are driving positive change and innovation in the construction industry and the communities they serve. In this Q&A, Atlas CEO Jacqueline (Jacque) Hinman shares lessons from her 35+ years of experience in engineering and construction. From her first construction job out of college to leading a Fortune 500 engineering company, she reflects on the value of mentorship and leadership grounded in trust, clarity and human connection. “My career has taught me that leadership starts with foundational values, basic things like communicate simply, be trustworthy, do what you say you are going to do and strive to understand the viewpoints of others. These are things we learned in kindergarten that evolve through the people who influence us along the way. Trust, human connection and clarity have guided me throughout my journey.” Culture, she notes, is not defined by a mission statement, but by consistent actions, everyday decisions and how people show up for one another. Did you know that George Washington is considered America’s first engineer? This President’s Day, Atlas honors Washington’s legacy and his early contributions to engineering. As the “Father of our Country,” Washington understood that strong infrastructure was essential to a growing nation. From land surveying and mapping to engineering roads, canals, ports and waterworks, his vision helped shape the systems that connected communities and supported progress. That same forward‑thinking mindset lives on at Atlas. Our engineers, surveyors, and environmental specialists support the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of the built and natural environments—helping clients make informed decisions that strengthen communities today and for generations to come. bit.ly/4aPideh #PresidentsDay #EngineeringLeadership #BuildingStrongerCommunities

We have Heart — Acting with compassion ❤️ At Atlas, our values of Life, Heart, Mastery and Trust connect all of us, creating a sense of unity, belonging and purpose. They guide us on how we make decisions, how we collaborate with our teammates and how we show up for our clients. In celebration of Valentine’s Day we take a look back to February 2025 when catastrophic flooding hit Eastern Kentucky. The Atlas team didn’t wait to be asked — they showed up. Real impact comes from being part of the community, not just working in it. 🌎 “What sets Atlas apart is simple, they care. For every site we’ve worked on, they’ve taken the time to understand the history, meet the people behind the project and invest in real relationships. I’ve worked with dozens of contractors, big firms with all the resources but none of the heart, and small local groups that care deeply but struggle to deliver at scale. Atlas is the rare company that brings both: world-class resources and a team that truly cares about the communities they serve.” – Blake Moss, Public Administration Specialist, Big Sandy Area Development District Link: bit.ly/4rN9Nd6 hashtag#AtlasHeart hashtag#enablingcommunitiesflourishthrive hashtag#valuesatwork
