We were all saddened by the death of Sean Keating, former Mayor and long‑serving councillor. Known for his humour and love of conversation, he built a respected career in the trade union movement and public service. Even after retiring, he and Gwen attended many civic events.

It was great to see such enthusiasm and curiosity from the next generation. Well done to everyone on their achievements! 👏⚜️

Last week, we were delighted to welcome scouts from Basingstoke West Scouts to the Civic Offices to receive their silver, gold, platinum and diamond scouting awards. The scouts enjoyed a tour of the council chamber and asked lots of thoughtful questions about how it works.

This morning I talked to @ThatsTVHants about the Holocaust Memorial Day service happening on Tues 27 Jan at 4pm, outside the Civic Offices. The service will give us the opportunity to pause to remember the millions of lives lost in the Holocaust and in other acts of Genocide.
