Apologies in advance for the drama. Yesterday Victor Pflug (the artist of Primordia) accused me of refusing an audit request and not paying royalties. These accusations are his latest step in a long-running harassment campaign against me and Primordia's other co-creators. It's hard to put into words what Vic has put us through over the last year. There's a LOT to unpack, but I'll try to keep it as brief as I can. In April 2023, Victor wrote me to say that his "accountant asked for a sales audit." This request was vague and unclear, so I asked to speak to the accountant to find out what Victor wanted. Rather than putting us in touch or even giving me his accountant's name, he accused me of breaching our original contract for not complying. He demanded sole control of Primordia's distribution and revenues. He even hired lawyers and threatened to sue me. His co-creators Mark and James have had similar experiences, and stood beside me against Vic's threats. I am eternally grateful to them. I've always known Vic didn't like me, and I've come to learn that he hated me more than I ever realized; including writing about wanting to see me dead, among other things. I won't repeat the things I read, but they terrified me. While it's true that I have sometimes paid late, I try to be transparent and have taken steps to improve and streamline the payment process. In the end, I'm just one person trying to do right by the people I work with, and I have done my best to satisfy Vic's increasingly erratic demands. This last year has been an exhausting exercise in vigilance, waiting to see what he might do next. We tried to take the high road as he disparaged us on forums, invented alternate histories, and claimed sole credit for work that he didn't do. Before anyone believes Vic's wild accusations, I hope they'll consider my long track record and the many developers I've worked with over the years.
