Airline captain. Big D Democrat. Never had X until now. I kept watching horseshoe lefties colonize every corner of liberal online space. When independents look at what "the left" says online, they see those people and assume that's us. It isn't. They don't vote Democrat. They don't believe in liberal democracy. They are as much a threat to this party as MAGA is, just from a different angle. Populism is a cancer. The actual base of this party is overwhelmingly people with liberal values who don't tune into politics, not loud performative online leftists who treat the Democratic Party like a hostage

It says something that the weakest special election overperformances have come from leftist candidates and/or more nationalized races. Seems to complicate the argument that Dems should tack leftward to win elections, when the reality looks increasingly more nuanced.
