This Easter, I invite you to look at Jesus, consider what he said and did, and ask for yourself what I believe is the most important question you will ever answer: Did he really leave behind an empty tomb? And if he did, what does that mean for you? This video was made possible and in collaboration with my friends at @ChildlikeMedia.

I support this and I think some coaches need to hear it plainly: Things have gotten out of control. When you’re expecting kids to train, lift, and practice year-round with no real break, that’s not development that’s pressure. And let’s stop pretending this is about college opportunities. Only a small percentage of kids will ever play at the next level. For most, this is the experience. So why are we turning it into something that crowds out family time, faith, and any life outside of sports? We’re burning kids and families out. A couple protected time windows isn’t harmful it’s necessary. If a program can’t succeed without 7-day access to kids, that’s not a scheduling issue, that’s a philosophy problem.
Jesse Owen@CoachJesseOwen

Placing restrictions on motivated kids and families is not the answer. Family rest, faith time, and personal schedules should be decided by families, not legislated by the state.

Travel baseball has turned into: Pay tons of money to play. Pay to travel. Pay to stay. Pay to watch your own kid. And somehow… this became normal. Will it ever change or just get worse?

These photos come from inside the Cottonwood Fire burn area in Nebraska. A trail camera owned by Jordan Adams went straight through the wildfire and was left completely melted. When he recovered it, he carefully opened the camera and found the SD card inside was still intact. The photos were saved. They’re date- and time-stamped, giving a rare look at how quickly the fire moved through the landscape. Photos courtesy of Jordan Adams.

Every now and then, people talk about FIRST BLOOD but confuse it with its sequels. They are very different animals. FIRST BLOOD is a smart, hard-hitting character piece. An unflinching and unflattering portrait of so many elements of American society. The casting is impeccable, top to bottom. The screenwriting is top-notch. This scene is a prime example of both. The insincere smile, the veiled threats. The contained anger. The action may be a little tame by today's standards, but it's not really an action film. Maybe a drama with action. In the end, it's hard to see it as anything other than a tragedy. An angry rebuke to the arrogance of power and how most of us just want to look the other way. It still fascinates me how we can tell such entertaining stories about these things. I love this movie. The sequels are just entirely different things (That said, I did like #4.)

🚨🇺🇸 Virginia just banned gun possession under 21 unless supervised by an "adult." Virginia defines adult as 18. So you can't have a gun if you're 20. Unless you're with an 18-year-old. Then it's fine.

@EMAW_Kuhlman @jlkurtz You can’t lean on that language for firing while there was also an offer to Tang to coach the rest of the year and then resign. K-State can’t play both sides of that coin.

Good stuff from The Athletic here. Maybe just maybe K-State isn't as stupid as everyone helicoptering in with their takes this week seems to think. nytimes.com/athletic/70537…

I believe Apple is gaslighting me with all these typos on my iPhone. Either they’ve change iOS settings for the keyboard or I’m rapidly aging. But there’s no way my texting ability has declined this much.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) changed movie history by helping create an entirely new film rating. Its darker tone and intense scenes were considered too violent for PG but not extreme enough for R, leading to widespread complaints from parents. In response, the MPAA introduced the PG 13 rating shortly after the film’s release. Temple of Doom, along with Gremlins, directly influenced the change.

Ring paid somewhere between $8 and $10 million for a 30-second Super Bowl spot to tell 120 million viewers that their cameras now scan neighborhoods using AI. The math is wild. Ring has roughly 20 million devices in American homes. Search Party is enabled by default. The opt-out rate on default settings in consumer tech is historically around 5%. So approximately 19 million cameras are now running AI pattern matching on anything that moves past your front door. Today the target is dogs. The same infrastructure already handles “Familiar Faces,” which builds biometric profiles of every person your camera sees, whether they know about it or not. Ring settled with the FTC for $5.8 million after employees had unrestricted access to customers’ bedroom and bathroom footage for years. They’re now partnered with Flock Safety, which routes footage to local law enforcement. ICE has accessed Flock data through local police departments acting as intermediaries. Senator Markey’s investigation found Ring’s privacy protections only apply to device owners. If you’re a neighbor, a delivery driver, a passerby, you have no rights and no recourse. This tells you everything about Amazon’s actual product. The customer paid for the camera. The customer pays the electricity. The customer pays the $3.99/month subscription. And Amazon gets a surveillance grid that would cost tens of billions to build from scratch, with an AI layer activated by default, and a law enforcement pipeline already connected. They wrapped all of that in a lost puppy commercial because that’s the only version of this story anyone would willingly opt into.
Le'Veon Bell@LeVeonBell

if you’re not ripping your ‘Ring’ camera off your house right now and dropping the whole thing into a pot of boiling water what are you doing?
