I saw Carmen at the Verona arena in 2006. It was hella uncomfortable sitting on bare stone for three hours but man was it an amazing experience that I will never forget.

You are 100% right. And, no, Canada is NOT 'poorer' than Alabama. Here's my explainer for @irpp Policy Options: policyoptions.irpp.org/2025/04/canada… #canlab #cdnecon

GDP/capita is one of the worst metrics to gauge actually important things about people's lives. There, I said it.

Black Public Joy by @Jay_Pitter is finally out and I’ve got my copy! The book frames public joy as civic, cultural and spatial infrastructure and Toronto Life calls it an “instruction manual for joy.” I can’t wait to dig in & neither should you!

Umberto Eco, who owned 50,000 books, had this to say about home libraries:
“It is foolish to think that you have to read all the books you buy, as it is foolish to criticize those who buy more books than they will ever be able to read. It would be like saying that you should use all the cutlery or glasses or screwdrivers or drill bits you bought before buying new ones.
“There are things in life that we need to always have plenty of supplies, even if we will only use a small portion.
“If, for example, we consider books as medicine, we understand that it is good to have many at home rather than a few: when you want to feel better, then you go to the ‘medicine closet’ and choose a book. Not a random one, but the right book for that moment. That’s why you should always have a nutrition choice!
“Those who buy only one book, read only that one and then get rid of it. They simply apply the consumer mentality to books, that is, they consider them a consumer product, a good. Those who love books know that a book is anything but a commodity.”

Wowza! Get the Ontario Line in there wrapping around the core of the city and we've got a network.

I see it more as tradition. We also have Terminals 1 & 3 at the airport.

It’s so ridiculous that on Sunday Toronto will have Lines 1, 2, 4, and 6 in operation lmfao.

@PolesWires @AlexanderGlista What’s mediocre about Kensington Market? It’s unique and authentic. It’s not meant to be beautiful.
English

@AlexanderGlista Looks good from far, but far from good.
German girl on flight from Toronto to Frankfurt told me she was shocked by Kensington Market. Could not believe this was a must see.
We are blind to the mediocrity of many parts of the city.

Obviously every city can be improved, but Toronto isn’t nearly as bad as some online talking heads tell you it is

This city is starting to need a poop map just like San Francisco did.

Any guesses what this is, Toronto? 🤔
This is the first glimpse of your new electric ferries as they begin to take form.🛥️
We’re charging ahead on this project and as of now Toronto’s ferries are being made at Damen Shipyards. These are some behind-the-scenes images from last week of the steel frames being put in place. These frames will eventually be the hull of the ship (or the bottom) and the wide openings will become doorways to be used by crews to access equipment.
Cool, eh? Ferry cool!
