REACTION OF FORMER PRESIDENT RODRIGO ROA DUTERTE FOLLOWING THE CELEBRATION OF HIS 81ST BIRTHDAY PRRD was informed that his birthday had been celebrated in The Hague by his supporters (along with Paolo) as well as in the Philippines. He was shown photos and videos collected over the past few days, and during the two-hour visit, it was deemed truly emotionally intense and meaningful for him. He was thrilled (by all the personal greetings he received from Kitty and others); he was moved (watching the video with the song dedicated to him and the petition in his support); he was amazed (by the people on the streets of Davao, and the marches organized in The Hague and Shibuya); he laughed (seeing Panelo dancing, for example, or the Mercedes car with the license plate bearing his name); and he was proud (to see the food distribution in January Duterte’s name and the pictures with Madam VP and Sebastian). Meanwhile, he shared a few anecdotes on his previous birthdays (like when he used to paint his forehead with chicken blood, to honor the tradition). As a special gesture, the visit was concluded with a video session by watching a few minutes of the Mutya ng Dabaw 2026 pageant. He really appreciated this special gift and told us how the competition works and its importance to Davao’s City. Speaking of his family and everyone who celebrated his birthday, he said: “I would like to thank from the bottom of my heart, each and everyone outside of this prison, and everywhere in the Philippines, wherever you find youself in the world. Thank you for the love and support. I miss you all, and God bless you, God bless our country, the Philippines”. He was really emotional as he pronounced those words. It can be affirmed that this was one of the times he was seen most satisfied and moved over the past year.
