@waylonjest @NightdiveStudio Absolutely. It would be a major milestone for Nightdive if you managed to build a version of this for modern machines as it's nigh unplayable at present - almost on a par with the original System Shock. Invisible War would be good too to remaster once you'd done the original.

What should we remaster next? 🤔 "We started by asking Stephen Kick and Larry Kuperman what their remaining bucket list projects were. A few answers were shared, but one that stood out was Eternal Darkness, which is high up on Kick’s list." shacknews.com/article/145513…

@gleet_tweet The Hunger Games is a knock-off of Battle Royale which is a much more extreme example of using entertainment for social control. It's a lesson in teaching children that if you're not going to play the game, they'll give you another to play where there is only one survivor.

I went into disassembling "BANDITS" on c64 and it really Takes a lot of time. I'm far from being done, but it's the most enjoyable detective activity.

@0xC0DE6502 Oldskoolcoder did it on YouTube and also went into the process of rewriting/ re-structuring the code. A good candidate game would include one or many packers so that you would cover this critical step to get the real final code.

@CompulsionGames Needs a sequel, where Arthur, Sally and Ollie meet up with other characters from first game to find Percy in Cold War Berlin in some exciting espionage tale. Might involve smuggling out a certain brother over a certain concrete wall as part of an co-operative escape committee.

@holtby_linda Cool, so you're just another /dev/null then? I could send you all my Very Important Stuff. Like program logs and invites to review papers. I quite liked the Radio Active Complaints Department as all listeners complaints were it was sent to their "Head of Carpets" to deal with...

@MEGA65Retro We should also invent some industry figure in a suit to spout absolute nonsense about how good the games are and generate a load of adverts telling kids that if they turn in people who copy things, they could get £1000! youtube.com/watch?v=zFd60n…

I love seeing new technology being born. What seems normal today was the product of amazing ingenuity at times when the instrumentation available was basic compared to what we have now (Bookmarking this to show my students next semester!)

For those that don't understand the new @Patreon logo, here is the simple explanation: Within the emblematic tableau designed for Patreon, a sophisticated symbology is carefully encoded, embodying a strategic articulation of visual language with the intention of conveying nuanced messages pertaining to the brand’s essence and ethos. The logo under contemplation unfurls itself as a black, formless, somewhat organic, P-shaped blob, silently residing against the pristine expanse of a white background. Let's delineate the semiotic ramifications of this design. The 'blob', with its undefined, flowing contours, subtly alludes to the fluidic, ever-morphing landscape of creativity, a realm where form and structure yield to the overpowering might of imagination and inspiration. This non-rigid form, amorphous and flexible, inherently symbolizes the boundless spectrum of artistic expressions and genres that find a nurturing home within the Patreon platform. The selected hue for this blob, a deep and impenetrable black, further amplifies the narrative by adding layers of complexity and depth. Black, traditionally associated with mystery, elegance, and sophistication, simultaneously encapsulates the enigmatic allure of the creative process while subtly nodding to the gravity and seriousness of the patronage act. It is a color that absorbs and amalgamates all within its fold, symbolically representing the confluence of diverse creative energies and the synthesis of myriad artistic endeavors that the platform facilitates and champions. Juxtaposed against this dark silhouette is the canvas — a blank, unblemished white space. White serves not merely as a passive, neutral background but actively engages with the visual elements, forging a dynamic that speaks volumes. It stands as a symbol of potential, openness, and infinite possibility, mirroring the blank canvas that every creator is presented with and the empty stage that awaits the dance of creation. It also represents clarity, simplicity, and transparency, reflecting Patreon’s commitment to creating an environment that is user-friendly, accessible, and straightforward. Within this spatial dialectic between black and white, the logo thus engenders a visual harmony that reflects the symbiotic relationship between creators and patrons. The letter 'P', while overtly signifying 'Patreon', also quietly whispers of 'Partnership', 'Possibility', and 'Promise', encapsulating the brand’s commitment to fostering collaborative partnerships, unlocking possibilities for creators, and delivering on the promise of supporting and nurturing the arts. This logo, in its deceptive simplicity, hence becomes a multifaceted symbol, a visual haiku that encapsulates and mirrors the complex, intricate web of relationships, values, and commitments that form the bedrock of Patreon's identity and mission. Each component, carefully selected and meticulously positioned, contributes to crafting a narrative that is as compelling and complex as it is simple and accessible.

@UridiumAuthor Planning the ships in Morpheus was incredibly clever, in that you built ships big enough to have shields, power and weapons whilst ensuring your systems were up-to-date and not obsolete against the evolving Morphai who would become tougher and more effective in stopping you :)

And I still get a roasting on a podcast for putting in systems that makes players think about upgrades and plan their game future, which is also a break from the action part. Thanks for spotting a connection. Indeed, today`s games are highly complex and built by teams. Beyond me!
Ejber Özkan@ejber1

Thing that struck me playing #starfield last month, recalling the diary for Morpheus, how @UridiumAuthor had a whole complex ship building mechanic in 64k! graphics/3d aside the building block aren’t dissimilar. imagine the tech now would startle the me (and maybe Andrew?) then!
