“Embryo” is a stage of human development.
“Fetus” is a stage of human development.
“Infant” is a stage of human development.
“Teenager” is a stage of human development.
Not one of these stages makes you more human than another.
It’s all the same life… just growing.
@DylanRedbeard@HannahStrege The law? What does that have to do with anything? In the UK, it is apparently illegal to handle salmon in suspicious circumstances, whatever that means. In some countries, it is illegal for women to show their hair. Law and morality are different things, rights are given...
@DylanRedbeard@HannahStrege Innocent according to who? The only person who can decide that is the person whose bodily autonomy is being violated. According to a consensual homosexual sex act, some crime has been committed, yet their consent says otherwise. You don't get to decide.
@DylanRedbeard@HannahStrege I see, so when you're being anally violated by a man and the only way to get him to stop results in his death, you'd demand that you lie there and take it?
@Snakeystew1@HannahStrege No I’m just extending bodily autonomy to all people. My bodily autonomy ends when it infringes on another person’s bodily autonomy. You like bringing up rape, which is a great example of someone infringing on another person’s bodily autonomy.
@DylanRedbeard@HannahStrege You don't have to support anything, that comes with having bodily autonomy. You're arguing against the very thing that allows you to argue.
@Snakeystew1@HannahStrege I agree that not consenting to sex is rape. I’m not talking about rape and haven’t been this entire time. Consent to sex is the consent to consequences of sex.
@DylanRedbeard@HannahStrege No, it would be you initially consenting to an activity involving your body and then changing your mind. You said "stop" and every moment after that was rape.
@DylanRedbeard@HannahStrege No, it's supporting bodily autonomy - the ONLY thing that gives you the ability to even complain in the first place. Yes, cessation of existence is the outcome. That's neither here nor there (see my last post about you being ass-raped).
@Snakeystew1@HannahStrege No, the equivalent would be someone having consensual gay sex and then killing a baby so they wouldn’t have to take care of it.
@DylanRedbeard@HannahStrege Some guy is ass-raping you. Now, if you push him off you, he will die. You didn't necessarily want him to die, you wanted him off you. Death is the unfortunate result regardless to your desire. But you'd still push him off you.
@DylanRedbeard@HannahStrege That is a result of abortion, but could removal of a fetus be done without death, I'd happily advocate for that and shun the former. You're not intentionally killing it, you're removing it. Death isn't the goal, removal is.
@DylanRedbeard@HannahStrege What you call "mental gymnastics," the rest of us call reality. At no point has doing something with possible consequences hindered the ability to do away with them if possible and every system is set up as such. Driving fast? Possible consequence death: Hey, let's create airbag.
@Snakeystew1@HannahStrege Lmao the mental gymnastics. I’m obviously using an analogy of intentionally putting yourself into a situation with consequences.
Maybe a better one for you: you light a match and throw it into a pit with kindling and wood, and then say you didn’t consent to a campfire.
@DylanRedbeard@HannahStrege I drop hammers and other things upon occasion. At no point did I consent to foot pain, and were there some magical piece of technology that could prevent the upcoming pain, I'd use it. Again, the only way this works is if you want the foot pain and perpetually consent.
@DylanRedbeard@HannahStrege The only way the hammer analogy works is if an omniscient creature popped up in front of you and said "that hammer will drop on your foot" and you're all like "yeah, dude, that's what I'm after. Nothing like a bit of foot pain". As it happens, omniscient creatures don't exist.
@Snakeystew1@HannahStrege I’m not talking about rape. I’m talking about consensual sex. If you consent to sex, then you consent to the consequences of sex. This applies to anything you consent to.
@DylanRedbeard@HannahStrege Again, no. Consent is provisional and can change at any point. You're saying here that a woman who initially agrees to sex can't possibly tell you to stop or shove you off her. Are you a rapist by any chance?
@Snakeystew1@HannahStrege If you consent to sex, then you consent to the consequences. If you consent to dropping a hammer on your foot, then you consented to the pain that follows.
@DylanRedbeard@HannahStrege And here we go back again. Consent isn't given in perpetuity. It can be revoked at any moment. If a woman says stop while you're fucking her, anything after that is rape. Consent is provisional and can change at any point.
@DylanRedbeard@HannahStrege Sure, it ends the existence of a "person". And? The moment you deny bodily autonomy, you've got no argument to make. "He's raping me!" And? "He's killing me!" And? Who can use your body for their own purposes? Nobody without express and continued consent. Or nothing matters.
@Snakeystew1@HannahStrege The baby doesn’t have the ability to be pompous, annoying, or a jack ass. If you’re using that as a metaphor for the difficulties of pregnancy, then the equivalent would be knowing they were like that when you invited them.
No metaphor changes the fact it’s killing a person.
@DylanRedbeard@HannahStrege No. Someone invited you to their house but then came to find out that you're a pompous, annoying jack ass, and so kicked you out of the house where you then died in the raging snowstorm.
@DylanRedbeard@HannahStrege False. They turned up unexpectedly, weren't wanted there, and so were removed. You have that right. If you don't think you do, give me your address and we'll test it.
